Performance

A great show that is quite an interesting performance from the band, all things considered, due to it once again needing a while to warm up for the band to get into the full swing of things, which is also where most of tonight's mistakes lie too with Edge not having the best 1st half due to audibly messing up on Until the End's 1st verse and New Year's Day's keyboard by hitting a clunker and forgetting to play the guitar solo for a few seconds but the major fail here is the absolute mess that is known as Mysterious Ways. Despite this, Bono's voice is in fantastic shape and, as regularly heard on Zoo TV-era performances, delivers wonderful vocals on practically the whole set.

As mentioned above, the opening run of songs from Zoo Station to Arms is quite an eventful experience due to the messy renditions of Mysterious Ways, Until the End and New Year's Day. Aside from that, the other songs feature a few mistakes, with the only noticeable one to my ears being Bono messing up during the 2nd verse of The Fly, which then results in improv lyrics from him for a few lines before getting on track. Compared to the previous show in Foxborough, it also seems to me that the band is already more in the moment here than in that show.

The B-Stage section continues the set, which thankfully goes on without incident and features strong renditions of all four songs. Angel of Harlem once again features the My Girl snippet, and When Love Comes To Town and I Still Haven't Found noticeably feature improved vocal performances compared to the previous renditions at 3rd Foxborough. The set concludes with a great stripped-down rendition of All I Want Is You.

The Live Staples are next and, just like the previous section of the show, are full of fantastic renditions featuring few mistakes, if not no mistakes at all, with all songs here either being steps up from the night before or simply having an extra punch to them with notable highlights being Sunday Bloody Sunday which despite still not featuring the "NO MORE!" section sounds stronger than previous renditions on the leg so far, Bullet the Blue Sky featuring Edge's guitar work standing out the most and Where the Streets Have No Name which is always a highlight for the intro alone but has a little extra with the addition of minor but noticeable things such as "I wanna go there with you" at the end of the song.

Desire opens up the slightly shortened encores, and it's a top-notch version in my eyes, with aspects such as the Mirror Ball Man speech at the end of the song aided by a simple addition of the Not Fade Away snippet, which is always nice to hear and extends the song out a little. The rest of the encores feature terrific renditions of With or Without You once again featuring the Shine Like Stars extra verse like a large majority of renditions from this era, and Love Is Blindness which then leads into Can't Help Falling In Love and once again features a brilliant solo from The Edge.

Sound

A near-perfect audience recording, featuring a very clear capture of the music with very little audience chatter getting in the way, the sound remains consistent for the most part. It has few instances of the vocals being buried or drowned out by other aspects.

Audience

Typical Zoo TV audience.

Overall

Overall, it is a very good performance if you can get past the fact that some performances in the Achtung Baby songs aren't the best in places, and the band needs a while to fully get into the swing of things. However, once they do, they deliver an excellent performance that lasts from the B-Stage to the end of the show, once again showcasing how good of a tour Zoo TV was even on shows with eventful beginnings such as this.

Highlights: One, Whiskey in the Jar, Angel of Harlem, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, All I Want Is You, Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bullet the Blue Sky, Where the Streets Have No Name, Desire, With or Without You, Love Is Blindness.
Lowlights: Mysterious Ways, New Year's Day
