Performance

A truly enthusiastic and inspired performance from the band tonight, backed up by tons of playful banter and references from Bono, which never fails to entertain during the show. The performance as a whole contains few mistakes, with the only kind of mistakes present here being your usual trivial ones for the most part, such as minor mistakes on some guitar parts by The Edge and the occasional lyrical fumble from Bono either singing the wrong words or fumbling with his timing on when to come in to sing. Still, even these are easily overlooked since Bono is in his typical excellent Zoo TV era form, delivering incredible vocals from start to finish.

The show right from the get-go begins with a strong performance of the Achtung Baby run of songs, which then leads into a unique and packed B-stage set featuring a cover of Frank Sinatra's "New York, New York" along with All I Want Is You and I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For which were only played a handful of times in this stripped-down B-Stage arrangement during this leg of the tour.

The classic live staple songs at the end of the main set are also mostly well done too, featuring another set of fantastic performances that perfectly conclude the main set.

The encores are also done well with Bono again appearing as his MirrorBall Man persona, who appears with a delightful rendition of Desire and then proceeds to do his usual gag of calling the White House to get through to the President, to which the operators always refuse him. We also get great versions of Ultra Violet and With or Without You, backed up with the always nice-to-hear Shine Like Stars extra verse. There is one flaw here, too, where Bono messes up at one point in Love Is Blindness; however, this is redeemed by a tight band performance that thankfully keeps it together.

Sound

A very good-sounding recording that allows the show to be enjoyed to the fullest extent from start to finish, containing a good balance between the music played on stage and the audience's reactions to the happenings on stage. It was also nice to hear Adam's bass work shine through in places.

Audience

A great audience, from what I can infer from the recording, singing along in places, especially during the older songs of the evening, New York, New York and even Larry's Wild Rover performance. They also seem to appreciate Bono's comments throughout the night and even cheer every time he does one of them.

Overall

Overall, it was a very enjoyable performance from a show that is quite personal to me due to taking place on my birthday (August 29th) from the Outside Broadcast leg of Zoo TV, featuring a killer performance from an inspired band who are fully set on delivering both an excellent and memorable show for the people of New York. Bono is in your standard fantastic Zoo TV form here and delivers a very respectable performance, aided by a band who provides a tight and enthusiastic performance with few mistakes. The B-stage set is also worth hearing, and it's nice to hear Sunday Bloody Sunday, which is on a nightly rotation slot with Bad, which all adds to a fantastic performance.
