"We were coming out of the Scorsese film 'Goodfellas'. While waiting for our car, a fellow came out of an alley with a small pistol and fired at the ground. The film had sort of anaesthetised us. I looked at the fellow. Hard. Then we got in the car and halfway my wife asked if the fellow hadn't aimed at us. Suddenly we felt sick. You can now assess the effect of violent films: they sort of immunise you against violence."
