1. Does any1 think that peace on earth is an underated song? simple but with powerful lyrics that make u think "yeh, he's absolutly right in what he's saying". Hasn't been played a lot live and when it has it's usually been a snippet. A great song, anyone agree?
  2. Hi, SteveJames, welcome to the Forum!!!

Well, I think it's clarely underrated. I love the lyrics (9,5 / 10, although I don't like very much the music (7 / 10). I like it very much as a snippet at the end fo One, but I like it much more as an almost-individual song (Providence 2001-10-30, I think...).

I finally fell in love with Peace On Earth the last weekend, on Saturday, when I attended to a multitudinary (450,000 people!) protest against Iraq' War. "Give Peace A Chance" was being played on the PA, and when it faded out... What did we found? Peace On Earth!! I was singing with all my throat (there's no high tunes, I wasn't doing bad) when some U2 fans joined me. Finally there were about 30 people singing with me, amazing and emotionally powerful. Such an awesome stuff to sing on an Anti-War protest and so...

  3. Just one thing I have to say: I fell in love with U2 because of "Peace on Earth".

It's not my favorite U2 song, but because that fact I mentioned above it will always have special place in my heart....
  4. it goes well with the walk on tribute to heroes, but on the album i must admit it's a track to skip.
  5. Hi friends!
I think that Peace On Heart is not more than a song to express U2's ideas about peace. It's a song to listen to as a speech and not really as a real song, a song that can be sing. So even live it would represent an introspective moment almost a pause during the concert, like the pauses Bono takes to talk about something.
I'm not saying that it's a bad song. Not at all! Its lyrics is very beautiful, bacause it's simple but deep. But the music makes me think what I think, because it is too slow and calm, even more than The First Time's music.
    Does anyone agree with me?
I hope I've not said it all wrong....

    I agree with you!
Of course it is slower than The First Time, in fact Peace On Earth almost has no music!
I really think it would be a great song to perform live, even Bono' a capella would be great, before 40 or so, the last song.

No who's or why's, no-one cries like a mother cries for peace on Earth...
One of my U2 favourites verses EVER. Makes me cry...
  7. I absolutely agree with u. It would be fitting to have it before 40 . It's lyrically underated
  8. Lyrically one of my favourite songs too. Makes you think about what he's singing and you can't help but to think "o yeh, i agree".

    I agree with u!
Peace on Earth would have been some fantastic stuff for this tour, with the CoeXisT logo and Pacifism theme! Don't know how they've forgotten...

  10. Has the song ever been performed in its completeness?

  11. No but the longest version is from 2001-11-27 - Kansas (2:28) i could be wrong though.
