Which caps? Cards?

You'd have to start dropping thousands of dollars (going up to the Schoeps/Nuemann/etc. rigs) to get a significant quality increase in my opinion. I've got a pair with the switchable subcard/card/hyper caps, although I tend to use my omni mics more since I'm usually mixing with a wireless source.

Yes. AKGs are the only ones that kinda fall in the middle price range but I'm not a big fan and they're not as stealth friendly as AT853/943s. I'm planning to get my pair repaired some time, but it's hard to find someone who knows what they're doing and for a small price.
EDIT. Just remembered about the tiny DPA, I think they were the 4060 or 4061. New they were around 600 bucks a pair so they also fall in the middle between AT and the über expensive Neumann / Schoeps family. There are some brilliant U2 bootlegs recorded with these DPAs.
