He can do what he likes, but I wonder whether a very brief prefacing that the recitation was at the request of the Hansard family may have helped, as I admit to also finding it a little bit disorientating for a moment.
I've always imagined that Bono thinks in a very unique way, sometimes getting to his destination way ahead of everybody else, so his words sort of convolute and meander, and it can confuse people sometimes - although I've always found it very endearing.
Then again, he's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't.
I saw a photo of what was supposed to be the 'order of service', but the lyrics were hilariously wrong (the last thing Bono needs!) - either mistyped or AI generated?
Ultimately, a bit of a shame, because I felt that the tribute Bono wrote for social media was astonishingly beautiful and poetic - I wonder why he didn't go with that?
But it's probably important for us to remember that we wouldn't usually be privy to such an event, and he's allowed to grieve in his own way.
The best comment I saw was that Glen probably would've found it hilarious. And he clearly looked up to Bono, regardless.

Ps. Poor Edge having to go and rescue him!
(Joking!)
