1. I was talking to a friend about his Top20 Springsteen songs. He's a massive Bruce fan and he listed mostly deep cuts and b-sides, to which I replied saying that doing an All Time Top-X songs is quite different to doing a list of the songs you'd rather hear as of today if you attended a gig by that artist. When you're a hardcore fan you probably have grown tired of the mainstream songs by that band so you tend to favour lesser known tunes - it's understandable. That led me to make a list of the best songs in general (trying to be as objective as possible) and compare it to the 20 songs I'd like to hear in a U2 gig tomorrow. Only 2 songs are in both lists, which is quite surprising!

    All Time Top20

    Stay
Where The Streets Have No Name
    Bad
    Pride
    Kite

    All I Want Is You
    New Year's Day
Until The End Of The World
    With Or Without You
    Please

    One
    Every Breaking Wave
The Little Things That Give You Away
    I Will Follow
    The Unforgettable Fire

Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
    Gone
Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own
    Moment Of Surrender
    The Fly

    Personal Top20

    A Sort Of Homecoming
    Like A Song
    Wire
    A Day Without Me
The Unforgettable Fire (1st song on both lists)

    Tomorrow
    Love Rescue Me
    Exit
    Zooropa
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses (2nd song on both lists)

Until The End Of The World
    A Man And A Woman
This is Where You Can Reach Me Now
    Book Of Your Heart
Luminous Times (Hold On To Love)

    The Ground Beneath Her Feet
If You Wear That Velvet Dress
    Dirty Day
    Heartland
    11 O'Clock Tick Tock

Until the End of the World is also on your both lists..... That makes it 3
  3. No (objective) SBS, Sergio?
Next thing you’re going to tell me that you agree with War being removed from Rolling Stone’s new top 500 albums of all time list!

War has The Refugee and Red Light so it's hard to argue with that *runs for shelter*

SBS was on the verge on making it to the list, to be honest. But what do you take out to make room for it?!

It’s all matter of personal taste, of course, but I could think of at least four in the bottom ten you listed. SBS will always be a favourite of mine, mind you.
  6. I’ve been trying to have a go at this thread and apart from it being very tough to work out an order it’s an eye opener about how I underrate songs on certain albums when I was doing the worst/best albums rating thread. I think a song like Real Thing being on my favourite album I thought the 9/10 rating seems fair in relation to the rest of the album but then I rated Landlady 10/10 on SOE. I love Landlady but would I really put it above Real Thing? I don’t think so. Then there’s the dilemma of putting a song like streets lower down than I’d want, stay, ultraviolet, zoo station, bad and WOWY I definitely prefer to streets so that’s it down at 6 at best.

The bottom of the all-time Top20?

    One
    Every Breaking Wave
The Little Things That Give You Away
    I Will Follow
    The Unforgettable Fire
Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
    Gone
Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own
    Moment Of Surrender
    The Fly

Not sure if I'd rank SBS above any of these. Maybe above Sometimes and Little Things putting it in an "all-time perspective" as @deanallison says, but then again I was trying to strike a certain balance between albums (something in which I failed btw because I just realized TUF has 3 songs, haha). Yeah it's all very hard, and it's even harder when your list are twice as long and you have to cut songs off them!!

Interesting lists specially from Rattle And Hum on. We only have 2 in common
