Please vote on the show pages for all these songs!
  2. Not really. Many of these songs have loads of votes as "top performances" just because they belong to famous shows like Dublin '93, Sydney '93, Sarajevo or the Point Depot residence. But quite often that doesn't mean these are particularly brilliant performances - just that more people know them.

As an example, Exit has these 4 shows as its "top performances":

-1987-04-29 Rosemont, Illinois (5 votes) >> Rock's Hottest Ticket, Joshua Tree Tour's most famous bootleg,
-1987-11-08 Denver, Colorado (5 votes) >> the show where most of Rattle And Hum live portions come from,
-1987-11-18 Los Angeles, California (3 votes) >> Joshua Tree Tour's best proshot concert,
-1987-11-07 Denver, Colorado (3 votes) >> excellent soundboard usually mistaken with the 8th as the night where most of R&H was filmed.

But no mention of truly great performances like Hartford 05-07, Rosemont 10-28 or Boston 09-17 which are not as widely known as the shows above. I guess Fleavox has done his list after listening to hundreds of gigs with no (or little) bias towards famous shows vs unknown ones (hence the choices of God Part II at Yokohama, October at Torhout, etc. )
  3. I am genuinely stunned! I'm inspired to try this for myself but... I don't know if I could do it! But thanks for posting this... I have a lot of new bootlegs to check out now!

It has also something to do with the quality of the recording. Not many people will listen to recordings with quality 3 and lower... so it won't get the votes...

I agree with this - but I'm surprised by how many shows actually have really good recordings that I for one have never discovered before and no one really talks about! For example I just finished listening to Jacksonville 1985-04-30 - and it's an incredible show I was mainly drawn to for being in my region of the US. The sound on the show page is listed at 3.5 stars but it's easily 4, probably more like 4.5, so there are a lot of good recordings out there sort of 'hiding.'

Yeah, that's what I mean with the "famous" bootlegs. Good sounding recordings get more downloads and therefore more votes, but it doesn't mean the performances themselves are particularly brilliant.
  7. Not... because I already voted in many, many songs, before to know my current favorites

This is true, but even among songs that have good sound (3.5 stars or higher - and I discover, as I mentioned above that many, many 3-3.5 star bootlegs are often more like 4 stars) there's really only a small percentage that are well-known. ZooTV, Lovetown, and Joshua Tree I think are maybe a bit skewed where more of the good-sounding recordings are known, but there's really a very wide range of decent to even excellent boots that are never talked about. Maybe about 15-20% of good sounding shows are well-known.

It's many concerts here listed with 3,5 or 3 stars on sound quality that sounds very good!!

1985-04-30 - Jacksonville for example... a really gem, listed as 3,5 but with 4 stars, great sound and performance even better!
  11. This thread is a lot of fun and thanks Gustavo for such comprehensive list. Maybe one day I sit down and compile my list too.

What I find difficult is that sometimes there is a very special performance of a song, like a rare snippet, or the song is extended, etc., like Two Hearts from Wellington in the Under Australian Skies leg, but there are also near perfect performances, maybe not very different from the tour, but they still deserve to be ranked as best performances. That's why I prefer Two Hearts from 1984-11-07. That is just out of this world.
Same thing happens to me with other songs.
  12. I'll be honest, I'm not really picky with voting 'best performances' - I use this mainly as a way to mark out really special and powerful versions rather than just limiting myself to one or two versions of each song.
