1. Hi, I just wanted to ask how people store their bootlegs. I have around 1100, all on CD, but my worry is that one day in the future, when I am an old man I wont be able to listen to them as the CD format will become obsolete. What is the best way of future proofing my collection in terms of storage, and of course, the ability to listen to them?

Rip the CD's to mp3 and then upload to Google Play Music. A free account allows up to 50,000 songs. That way you will have online access to all of your recordings and they are still available to download at any point in the future.

It would also make sense to make one or two backups of your ripped CD's. Perhaps one on a hard drive or SSD.

I rip them with the software dBpoweramp.

Thanks, that makes sense. How about using USB Flash drives?
  7. They will work but they usually top out at around 128gb. A 1TB hard drive an be had for under £50 these days.
  8. Top man. Thank you.
  9. I have them all as well on an external hard drive. Every once in a while I make a backup to another external hard drive because it would be a pity to see so much work go to waste.

I also have a very old online back-up on some server and I have a few DVDs with another back-up from many years ago

Spreading the risk seems to be the order of the day. If a hard drive stopped working and was beyond repair, then without everything backed up it would be lost. Back up, back up, back up!! Thank you Remy.
