The 2010 mix of WOWY was fairly bad, but, it was more honest than this RHMT recording (and it had Shine Like Stars).
Originally posted by ymalkiel:The biggest issue I have with this "re-mix" is that some of it is a new recording and some of it is the original. They don't sound good together. This is why I think it sounds so uninspired, as if there's a bit of laziness about the whole thing.
I get that they need some kind of release to promote the new tour (actually, they don't, but that's another debate altogether). Why not just re-record the entire song? Or better yet, hunker down in the studio, practice playing the album all the way through, and release a "The Joshua Tree: Live In Studio" album. I'd have been happier with a newly packaged CD/DVD/BluRay release of a concert from the original Joshua Tree tour in 1987. Wouldn't you run out and buy one of those releases sooner than the new deluxe reissues?
Any of those would have been a more inspired choice than this re-mix, and shown more effort on the part of the band and their management/record company.
