Will you be at any of these shows? Click on the date, and then add yourself to the list of attendees.

Some of the U2start crew will also be in Tampa, see you around!
  2. Meet ups?
  3. Busy thread
  4. Overwhelming.
  5. Only thing to watch for tonight is if we get a return of I Will Follow, and here's why -

I'm not sure when the last time we'd have 4 consecutively different closing songs on any U2 tour. We got really close last tour with One / 40 / People Have the Power on three consecutive I&E shows, but generally U2's closers don't rotate between more than one or two songs. If we get IWF tonight, they'll have closed with:

    Little Things (Pittsburgh)
    One (Bonnaroo)
    Vertigo (Miami)
    I Will Follow (Tampa)

It would truly be great if you never knew what your closing song was going to be between FOUR different songs, even if they were the ones above!

Can anyone think of other touring eras where the final slot has changed so frequently?

At the end of 360 there was 4 shows in a row with different closers but I can't imagine there's many other occasions that has been done.
  7. Yep, I just realized the 360 tour ended with

    Out of Control (East Rutherford)
    Moment of Surrender (Minneapolis)
    Bad (Pittsburgh)
    40 (Moncton)

But even still, I have to think that's only one of a handful of instances since maybe the early 80s.

The Vertigo Tour got close toward the end, with songs like Bad, Kite, All I Want Is You, One Tree Hill, and Vertigo all closing shows on the last leg - but no 4 appeared consecutively. There were always repeat performances, for better or worse (and I'd take that lot over the 360 lot or this Joshua Tree lot, in terms of 4 rotating!)

The Elevation Tour only had 3 closing songs throughout its duration (Walk On, One, Out of Control) so it's automatically disqualified

PopMart closed with a lot of snippets, but the closest I can come to 4 rotating songs in a row would be

    One/Unchained Melody (Sarajevo)
Staring at the Sun (somewhat of a snippet, it seems?) (Greece)
    MLK (Tel Aviv)

ZooTV didn't have enough closers to rotate (WOWY, Can't Help, LIB)
  8. Honestly though, it's cool to have another big stat happen during this tour which seems a little bit more boring at surface level.

If there are only two times in the last 30 years of touring that U2 have rotated 4 songs in a row to close, and tonight is one of those times, that's huge!
  9. I think the vertigo tour was definitely the most impressive mixture of closers, kite and one tree hill in particular couldn't have been predicted by many prior to there first performances on the tour and certainly not as closers. Yes it is still quite a cool stat to appear on this tour, definitely a real mix of songs again, just to let you know Matt the gigs not tonight it's on Wednesday.
  10. Just to add to above as well, I seen a thing on u2gigs twitter saying the vertigo tour had 10 different closers which is a record, that really is an impressive amount.Think we might still get at least 1 or 2 more this tour but maybe not til late on.
