1. Hi folks,

Don't post much but enjoy creeping around.
A little reference for everyone...been a U2 fan since mid-80's, seen them 30 or so times in total. In the last month I was at Pitt, Philly and the 2nd NY show. 2x in the Redzone.

I was 100% stoked for this tour as JT is my all-time favorite...no doubt.
Here are my observations of what I experienced...LMK if you think I am off base

    Positives
I love how the show starts. Lights on - Larry - Drum kit - It's incredible.

Like hearing the chronological order of the JT - Some don't I think it's fine.

Edge is just fantastic. Love listening to him play. The dude is a rock guitar god.

The video screen is ridiculous. It's beautiful, not a distraction...definitely adds to the experience 100%

I always dreamed of a "Greatest Hits" tour...and this is pretty much it
Overall I left the show happy.

Negatives - As a long-time fan I've seen things evolve quite a bit, so some of this may seem overly critical...take it with a grain of salt.

Show is too short. I think a little over 2 hrs is ridiculously terse considering the breadth of their catalog, what some other artists do (Bruce specifically) and the next point which is...

Ticket prices are over-the-top - I get that it's "What the market will bear" and this is a cash grab...but if you're gonna pay several 100 dollars per seat in some cases...I think adding 3 more songs is the least you could do.

Nit-picking here but..Can you please give the people what they want and do Shine like Stars at the end of WOWY? That bums me out big time and I have no idea why he won't do it.

Another nit-pick - I think you can drop Pride at this stage.

Paid for the Redzone for 2 shows which was really fun. Bono COMPLETELY ignored us both nights I was there. He literally wouldn't even look at us. Wonder why?

Lastly - Bono has voice issues, I get it. What can you do. But can you at least memorize the words to your own songs that you've sung a zillion times? That really kinda ruins the moment for me...Singing along to Bad and I know the lyrics better than Bono.

Anyway, I'd be interested to see what you think as well...And Sorry if this is in the wrong forum ...
  2. Totally agree with you on Shine like Stars
  3. I belted out SLS anyway (over top of the oh, oh, oh, ohs). It can/should be done by Bono as the timing works.

many negative reasons and i agrre with all of them, they don't move on stage, they are static , setlists always the same except max 2 or 3 songs, some songs are not to play in a jtt , like vertigo, elevation or beautiful day, these songs belong to others recent times, very good first 4 songs. This time i don't like u2, i'm waiting for the new SOE album and next tour, that's why i have sold my tickets for rome 1 and 2. ps and i'm very terrified for terrorism.
  6. ticket prices for good seats are over the top, i agree. GA is reasonable.
  7. I don't agree with the negativity around show length. Of course I'd like them to play more songs but 2 hours is probably above average for most bands these days. There's a lot of artists that will only play 1 and a half hours or 1 hour 45 mins at most. Also I still think the show prices are reasonable, there's loads of seating and ga tickets that come in well under £100 whatever that works out in dollars and only the very best seats are a bit expensive but nothing like several hundred dollars unless your buying VIP which isn't a fair reflection on ticket prices. Finally I think Bono is doing a great job of singing the songs both in terms of his voice and remembering lyrics. Any lyric changes are minimal and even if you go back to Bono on the original JT tour he still forgot lyrics just check out the 1st and 2nd verses of In Gods Country from the Paris 1987 DVD.
  8. but GA is still more than on previous shows (360 or i+e)
  9. Agree with the lack of love for the RedZone. $350 a ticket and the lead singer can't even come over and acknowledge everyone.
  10. Just because someone smashes down 350 a ticket or whatever amount of money in the world.
That doesn't mean that that someone needs to be acknowledged personally. Get off the high horse and enjoy the show.
