1. Based on the songs we've heard so far , what do you think it is?

I know, honeymoon phase and what not, but honestly I haven't enjoyed and loved a new album (after a few listens) as much as this one since Rattle And Hum.

Achtung took lots of time to warmup for me.

And then in every album there was always a few tracks that made me feel like "yeah, it looks good, but... it could've been a little more better" (seriously, can't get it out of my head)...

I don't know how I will feel about it next week when the album is released, or in a month from now.
I'm not saying this is their best album since Joshua Tree or whatever, but I'm saying that I never felt this level of "acceptance" of a new album since I was in highschool excited about Rattle and Hum, almost 30 years ago.

(btw, right now, Rattle and Hum is in the bottom half of my U2 albums ranking, so again, this doesn't mean anything more than that).
  2. Very early on but as a cohesive album this is the best of the century.
  3. best album since Achting Baby! hands F**ing down
  4. Best body of work since Zooropa for me. It depends now whether it continues to work as an entire album or if i start to pick out the bits that I like most. That’s where i have struggled with the last few albums.
  5. I'm blown away they have managed to create something so strong, cohesive and melodic at this stage in their career. It is remarkable.

Better than all that you can't leave behind. Probably the best since AB to be fair.

    Unbelievable.
  6. Ask me in one year after the tour.

Yes, I agree on this. I would say Zooropa/Pop although they are quite niche records, so I guess this is the best since AB?! Never thought I'd ever say that.
  8. Well I have already declared Songs of Innocence as my favourite album since Achtung as a complete album, so Songs of Experience has to beat that for me. So far they are tied, but I won't know more until I hear the whole thing properly and a decent amount of time has passed.

Yea its quite something to stay out loud. Extremely early days and a dose of honeymoon about it all for now but I hear enough here to raise an eyebrow in surprise.
  10. Possibly the best since AB, but it is early days.

Yep, certainly. I've been listening a lot to ATYCLB, SOI and NLOTH recently and there's a lot of great stuff on all these three records, but they don't really hold up for some reasons as a whole piece (ATYCLB and NLOTH) or the parts are not better than its sum (SOI)...I guess SOE might all do just that.
