1. The band had used the second percussionist on this tour in 1989-90, definitely needed for Desire. He appears at the top of the video behind the speakers. Sam O' Sullivan???

  2. Are you sure that mystery person isn't just relieving himself?
  3. wtf
  4. The same guy was there when we saw them on 30 December 1989. He is holding two drumsticks though. He'd been doing well to do that and take a Pxxx, don't you think?

There was an extra drummer on Desire during this tour

I would just say sound enhancement.
  6. I thought it might have been like a situation where people need a car crash to get turned on. Like that David Croenberg movie Crash.
  7. Isn't he doing the off best hand claps??
  8. In 1989 I was at the U2 concert in Rai Amsterdam, which was cancelled after an hour , due to Bono's voice. I saw also an extra percussionist backstage during Hawkmoon.
  9. Yes, there's definitely a 2nd drummer there. He can also be seen at the Sydney footage on Hawkmoon and Desire.
  10. Definetely there during Desire at the shows I saw in Dortmund in 1989. If I remember correctly he played the off-beat throughout the song, on a single snare drum. On the Desire Hollywood Remix you can hear the off-beat handclaps pretty well, live it was replicated, sort off, with an extra Drummer on a snare drum.
