1. Agree, the kindergarten version stands up well on its own and that opening line is fascinating given how much later SOI & SOE appeared. Bono has obviously been into that book of poems for some time.
  2. The album version is my favourite studio version over the Temple Bar edit or the Baby version. Toss up between the 1992 Zoo TV versions (Stockholm and Atlanta are favourites) and 2018 Berlin version for me. Give the 2018 arrangement to 1992 U2 and that'd be my favourite haha

    I would argue that Mothers has never been played live. The wonderful JT track slumbers into Bono's "Whoa Oh Oh." Terrible. Wire should have been brought back by now. TUF is very top heavy, but those top level songs were just a glimpse of what was to come.
