1. For ever I have been trying to decide what U2's "signature" song might be.

The Stones have "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction", The Beatles have "Yesterday", The Doors "Light My Fire" and Led Zeppelin will always be remembered by most (not all!) by their "Stairway To Heaven". All signature songs. Like Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", the mother of all signature songs...!

But what would it be for U2?

Streets? Beautiful Day? Pride? One? Sunday Bloody Sunday?

The other day I was listening to larryrulz' Uniondale audience recording, and I couldn't help noticing with how much passion
and dedication Bono was singing SBS. The song clearly means a lot to him and my respect for the song (and Bono) went even higher.
I mean, according to u2gigs, Sunday Bloody Sunday has been played in full over 900 times(!) already and then still that intensity and commitment...I mean: wouw…!

And each time it seems that a large part of the audience seems happily surprised to recognize the famous SBS guitar riff - or melody, or what ever you want to call it is the right word @LikeASong ...

So I think "Sunday Bloody Sunday" is a good candidate to go down in history&herstory as U2's signature song.

But what do you think? What is the one song that most people* associate with U2? (Like what is U2's "Bohemian Rhapsody"?

    * that is not the hardcore fan, regular u2start visitor...
  2. I’m not sure about what their signature song is since there are so many for me but I would say that if I asked every one I know to name one U2 song they would go with WOWY
  3. Pride
  4. I think any casual fan, or maybe not even a fan, just anyone, they'd choose With Or Without You or Beautiful Day, because they are their most popular songs.

For me, I'd go with Sunday Bloody Sunday or Pride, because in my opinion, those are the first songs that indicated they write big, important songs and they have a unique sound like no other. Also, these first notes on each of the songs are so recognizable live, that all the seated spectators stand up and enjoy the moment, which shows that the crowd realises it's something special.
  5. Sunday and Pride For the Oldschoolhaddiefans
With or wihout you and Beautiful day For the "People"
  6. I just asked my brother, who only knows U2's hits, but has heard EVERY U2 song because of me , I didn't give him any options, and he said Sunday Bloody Sunday & Pride (because of Edge's signature sound and Bono's passionate 80s vocals)
  7. For me its:
Until the end of the world!!!
Music, Lyrics, even visuals hard to beat!
But not every casual fan knows it.
    Otherwise i think its SBS!?

Right, the question is: "what would be their signature song in general..."

Like: what is U2's, say, "Bohemian Rhapsody" ?
  9. Streets, Beautiful Day and One.
  10. U2's sound changed so much throughout their career that a signature song is hard to pick. I'd still go with SBS or Pride, but you could also say SBS / Pride / Streets are the 80s, One is the 90s & BD is the latest signature song
