1. I could totally see U2 releasing something along the lines of what Metallica did with Garage Days Inc. they’ve done so many diffrent covers other songs I would love to see them release them all on one Cd. Then again I may just make a playlist on my iPod.
  2. Yeah, that would be nice, but it is very unlikely to happen. I love U2's version of Maggie's Farm and The Ballad of Springhill.
  3. They are not a good cover band. Most songs they've covered are inferior to their original counterparts.

Helter Skelter and All Along The Watchtower are the only ones that are superior to the originals.
  4. Well, this is very subjective.
  5. Paint It Black is not good.

Isn't Lights Of Home and Summer Of Love a cover?
  6. I like U2's version of "Dancing Barefoot" a lot, though I'm not very familiar with the original. Their take on "Unchained Melody" and "Everlasting Love" are so different from the originals, so I like them as well. "Fortunate Son" and "Paint it black" are not good, I can't believe they were even released! "Instant Karma" and "Beat on the Brat" aren't bad covers, and I love their version of "This Is". "Happiness is a warm gun" is interesting, in a good way. "Don't take your guns to town" is a nice, pleasurable listen. Overall, I don't really see the point in covers, and I'm glad U2 have done them only sparingly

U2's cover of "Helter Skelter", oddly enough, was the first U2 song I remember listening to/liking. I was 12 or 13, and my Dad had his copy of Rattle and Hum in the CD player at home. I pushed play, thinking something else was in there, and HS was the first song. I remember I really liked it, and listened to it a couple more times, having no idea it was originally a Beatles song. This was about 1994-95, and was my first real exposure to U2. Before that, they were just a band that my parents owned a few of their CDs.

Totally agree about Fortunate Son and Paint it Black. They could have released a Knocking On Heaven's Door cover. They played it really well back in 85.

I disagree.. almost everything they cover or snippet seems to work..
  9. Not a fan of u2 or any band really doing covers. There’s some exceptions though. Night and Day is the main one, it’s the only cover song I’d be happy to take the place of a u2 original in the Setlist. Christmas baby please come home is good to listen to during the festive period, u2 definitely do the best version of that imo. The rest I could live without.
  10. Love the Golden Earring cover from Radar Love.

... how many is this song covered by other bands?
