May I point out that I have been a U2 fan since 1983.Can remember clearly when Bono used to climb the speaker stacks and deliver vocals so powerful.I have just been listening to Phoenix 23rd 2015,and,it seems to me that U2 songs from 2014 seem to really come alive live.Queen have always been my favourite band, and I believe started the popularity of stadium concerts.U2,in 1987,carried on this, and then took it up to another level. When Bono said those immortal words "We need to dream it all up again",in 1989,who could ever predict, except Bono, how globally popular they would become. The Zoo TV and Zooropa tours are legendary.Like Queen,no one could touch them.No one had ever had the idea to try this, let alone pull it off as well as they did.Popmart tour started off a mess, but ended on a high.fast forward to 2001,they re invented themselves once again.I personally enjoyed the Elevation tour and album All That You Can Leave Behind. To me that album was a sign that U2 still had that creative skill, and this is a U2 for the millennium. Then we had How To Dismantle An Atom Bomb and No Line On The Horizon. Both albums in part were good, but, and this is only my opinion, some songs lacked depth.Sure Edge's guitars and Adam's Bass and Larry's Drums were still there, but for me,something was missing. The tours with these were still successful and extremely enjoyable.Fast forward to the period 2014-2018.2 albums released, and 3 great tours. But i will return to my previous comment, the songs really sound much better live.I realise, that as a singer,as you get older, your voice changes. It has been well documented that Bono has struggled with his vocals at times. The songs that they played from the previous 2 albums, live, sound absolutely fantastic. For the future,I hope U2 don't tour Achtung Baby.Revisiting an iconic album like that, would not be a wise move.As my first topic,I hope that I have not offended anyone. It was not my intention. Now,being New Years Eve here,I will,as ever, be listening to the radio broadcast from The Point and reminiscing of days gone by.
You say that U2 songs sound much better live so I don't understand why you would not want them to continue touring. Why would revisiting Achtung Baby not be a wise move?
Hi ultraviolet346 thanks for your reply.I would not like to see U2 give up touring,I only said that the songs seem to sound stronger live.Regarding touring Achtung Baby,I personally think that they did that with The Joshua Tree album and it worked really well. The Zoo TV tour would be another thing, trying to re inact 1992/93 again would be a tough thing to do.Having said that,if any group could do it,U2 could
