1. And the 3 part documentary on BBC iPlayer : Live Aid At 40.

I remember plain as day watching Wembley gig from noon to about 10.30pm.Didn’t watch the US overnight
  2. Watching it right now many of the performances I've never seen before,U2 were so good but Sting and Phil Collins was horrendous.

  3. I'll watch this tomorrow. Tomorrow is the real date and i can skip the rubbish performances

Adam Ant got lambasted for playing his new single (I think it was Apollo 9,could be wrong) The brief was to play the hits.So for U2 to do an album cut in Bad seems strange. But,as we all know, they were supposed to end with Pride. They missed a trick not opening Live 8 with it.But then again, their big hit at the time was still less than 12 months old (Vertigo)

Yeah Sir Bob didn't want him playing apparently as he was over the hill by 1985 but gave him one song,I was surprised Frankie Goes To Hollywood weren't on the bill, pretty much THE band of the previous year and no Madness,UB40, Culture Club or Bananarama.
  6. I stayed home that entire Saturday to record the entire show on VHS

Yep,considering the last 2 artists you mentioned appeared on the Band Aid single.I don’t know whether Frankie proved themselves that they could play well live.Although I do remember they played The Tube. The jury was out on whether they actually played on the records
  8. This is a really good thread on X
