1. So around this time every year since 2014 , some journo somewhere will write a piece about that infamous Apple / U2 partnership releasing Songs of Innocence as a ‘gift’ to 500 mil iTunes account holders. At the same time chatter once again starts up on Twitter with twits still whinging 6 years on about how ‘violated’ they felt at being given a free ‘gift’

And every year at this time i get annoyed at both above mentioned twits tweeting and U2s management.

I am left wondering how on earth did both parties get it so wrong and fail to ‘read the room’ thinking that all those 500mil iTunes account holders who didn’t ask for nor want a gift from U2 and Apple would have openly loved the idea.

That all said this time around i found this very very funny piece written by Russ Frushtick for Vulture Magazine.

It again highlights to us, the fans ( as most of us can’t understand why the continual whinge fest surrounding this ) that yes this was a monumental managerial blunder that will live with the band for ever.
  2. They’re nearly 2 months late but hey.
  3. It wasn't a monumental blunder it got their music out to more people than they could ever have imagined all their back catalogue went back into the charts ,It annoyed a few self entitled geeks but who cares every band or artist would jump at the chance to release their music in the same way .
