1. Hi folks.
I'm joining a uk tribute band.

Anyone out there selling bono gear? Glasses and jackets!
  2. I don't think anyone here is selling Bono-like clothes or props. You might get lucky posting this request in the U2 Tribute Bands facebook group and maybe also in the U2 Guitarists group. Best of luck with the project, and don't forget to play Heartland
  3. Ha!
    Nobody plays that.... odd song

    Same as Hawkmoon...... and orphan.
  4. What kind of tribute band won't play those?? 🤔
  5. Tribute bands SHOULD play songs like these... tribute shows are not about greatest hits but also deep cuts and members personal favourites. If of course are all members just casuals, which would be sad...

Yes!! That's what happened to me a year ago - an average bass player (who already plays in a U2 tribute band) found a very good guitar player and a mediocre drummer, and we set up everything for our first meetup and rehearsal. It ended up being a disaster because the drummer literally only knew SBS, WOWY and Pride (not even Streets or Bad!), and the bass player only knew the 18-20 hits that his band play all the time. The guitar player was quite skilled and also had quite the knowledge of U2's catalogue, he wanted to play A Day Without Me, Heartland, Dirty Day, Luminous Times, etc. so he was as disappointed as me. We tried explaining to the other guys that tribute bands should play at least some deep cuts etc but they said no, so the guitar player and myself went away really frustrated. It was so bad.

Reminds me of one tribute band here... they played the same set every time and once in about year they learned one new song... and when I asked them why they don't play some rarities (at least Please or something from Boy except for IWF), leader(guitarist) said that it's not worth it,because majority of people in the audience wouldn't know it....
What a difference with one amazing Pink Floyd tribute, when they play every show different set. And it's always amazing...

Yeah I get that a lot of the people who go and see tribute acts are casual fans (just like the real bands) and therefore there's a need to play the hits, BUT that doesn't mean you can't play a few rarities that the band doesn't play often. So wrong
  9. Was only in a tribute band for about 3 gigs, do really miss it! But we only played the hits and the odd deep-ish cut, if there's any tribute bands in the north west needing an Edge let me know
  10. Like?
