1a) Doesn’t it make sense to hold off on the release until the book has done its thing? Any promotion of a new U2 album (reworked songs or otherwise) immediately generates headlines about the band and takes away from Bono’s solo project. This moment is about him and deservedly so.
1b) I agree with the last post. Why would Bono himself promote an album instead of his book?
2) I have no reason to doubt @u2wanderer1 regarding the album already being pressed. And if they did get cold feet about this release, that’s a lot of money wasted…let alone money for OTHERS (sponsors, the record label, etc.) that would be left hanging. That just doesn’t make sense, either.
3) Lost in all this debate are the Kennedy Center Honors in December. That moment will be about the band…what a perfect time frame to reintroduce U2 into the public consciousness with the SOS collection…perhaps?
4) Deep breaths, everyone. Do I wish this was released already? Or do I wish we had an official date? Of course…my impatience is rooted in excitement for the project. But it’ll come when it comes. Meanwhile, we have this book and mini-tour which has been incredible.
Shout out to @u2wanderer1 for the info…without him, our only SOS news would be Bono’s mention in the back of the book.
