  1. Really? I'd like it that way. You can start really low key and then go all out and use the full capacity of the venue for AB.

I'd go see this if I could! It highlights Achtung Baby in a special way while also showcasing the new old songs.

Yeah well, the thing is that I don't want to see Achtung Baby in full nor a dedicated AB32/ZOO30 tour, so the idea of combining that with boring SOS-ish versions of songs is causing me real trouble
  4. Well the idea is not your cup of tea.

That's fine, but they didn't make any NEW music. So they could do just do a greatest hits show. But instead they chose to make reworked music and celebrate one of their albums. Along with the fact that a production like this will also take a lot of time to create.

I think it's kind of sad that the whole forum is just so negative, while we don't even know what it will look like in the end.

Same with SOS, it is a 40 song album, we heard 1 in full. The rest are just clips.
Give it all a chance. Don't burn it to the ground when we don't know what it will sound like.

And maybe we don't like it, maybe we do. But at least give it a chance, or not. But speaking about nightmare is such a strong negative way of speaking out.

Not personaly to you Sergio, just a thought about the vibe of the forum lately.
  5. I like U2 most when they're looking forward, not back.

They've always proud themselves on being a band that doesn't rely on past successes and always tries to push new boundaries, and that's the attitude I want from them.

    But since 2017 we've had:
    -a Joshua Tree anniversary tour.
-a 2018 tour that reutilised the stage and concept from their 2015 tour.
    -another Joshua Tree anniversary tour.
-an album with 40 old songs reimagined.

It's easy to see they're not exactly "looking forward" lately. And it's ok to like and enjoy their new approach, I'll never bash anyone for enjoying it. But I don't. Easy.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not negative for the sake of being negative, and I'm not the stubborn kind. I'll still celebrate and praise the things that I think are worth celebrating and praising (like Bono's book tour, which I didn't trust at the beggining), and I'll still criticise the things that I think are worth criticising.
  6. some of us fans can say it's shit just as some say it's the best thing ever and we are all doom mongering pessimist twats

we are not - we are fans and always will be but we can also be fuckin disappointed when the band (and all that creativity) stands aside to let shite like 'a vegas residency' happen (is it still a rumour or the truth? i've lost my way reading this thread)

sad sad sad - now i'd hate them to do an acoustic stripped down world tour but i'd rather that than this crap

what's the capital of the world? new fuckin york

what's the capital of the US? las fuckin vegas

    what's outside of the US? just a bunch of countries that don't really matter because they ain't the US! U S A - U S A woohoo U S A - U S A

i've nothing against the US but come on this residency is just fuckin disrespectful to all their other worldwide fans and stinks of $$$$$$$ and only $$$$$$$
  7. Oh yeah I agree the whole thing is just a waste of time. I would much rather get straight to the new album and big world tour. I don’t want to spend money in Vegas. And I certainly don’t want to hear SOS or have had the band waste their time on this album that they could’ve put to the next. But they did and I have to accept it now.

I don’t like the new version of Pride. I don’t like Ahimsa. I don’t think my opinions make me any less of a fan. I’ll still go see these shows- simply because they’re getting older and who knows when anything can end. Unless these shows are at Taylor Swift prices.
  8. I struggle with this Vegas thing. I think it's pretty cool they open the sphere. I don't like the rumoured AB-theme (or the SOS-theme which i don't think it's gonna happen in Vegas anyway). I also don't like the prices of not only tickets, but also travelling and hotel which make it almost impossible for a lot of fans to go there. Then there might be only a few shows, so the chance of getting tickets (when you can afford) is reduced to very slim

Compared to most bands of their era U2 have been one of the few that haven't traded solely on their back catalogue for the last 20 years ,I get there has been a good bit of revisionism since 2017 but there were a lot of factors that led to it such as Bono's health issues that delayed SOE &
the pandemic basically shut down the industry for 2 years it was probably difficult to get studio crew ,producers etc together for long periods of time to make a new album so they went with something easier with Edge as the main producer, I do think they'll release a follow up album of new songs before the year is out and tour off the back of that .

  10. If they had done the EI tour in 2016 as planned would it have been an issue using the same stage and concept? It was the innocence and experience tour.

The thing is I don't see anyone saying this is their best stuff ever? But the people who are shitting on it constantly come here to shit. How can you have any left in you?! (This is a rhetorical question to the people on the forum not you specifically).

I also find your last point a bit funny as I live in a place where I always have to spend "$$$$$$$" to travel to see this band play so that to me is just geography.

Great to have your $$$$$$$! I'd never be able to spend money on something that I don't want to hear live...

One thing I'd be interested in seeing more of artists streaming their tours/shows for fans to watch at home. This happened with some people during the pandemic and it was a fun pastime but it would also mean that fans can be part of shows they aren't able to travel to.
