U2:UV Achtung Baby at the Sphere
Legs (1): 2023-2024
Shows: 40
Tickets:
  1. This place needs to be booking more shows. Here are the only concerts they’ve had since opening day.

    U2- 40
    Phish- 4
    Dead and Co.- 30
    Eagles- 24
    UFC Fight- 1

So that’s 99 sold out events they’ve had/are scheduled between Sept 2023 and Feb 2025. It’s maybe just too big, and requires too much of an investment by the artists, I’m surprised somebody like Beyoncé or Harry Styles haven’t announced anything. I’m not surprised they’re going under.
  2. Don't forget those Anyma shows they scheduled around New Year. They seem to be selling quite well. So well that they even added extra shows the following weekend.

Residences don't appeal to a lot of bands and particularly younger Pop acts who prefer to be on the move playing different cities and countries rather than staying in one place for months on end ,the problem aswell is that the capacity is so big there aren't that many who could do 20 + nights there and the ones that could pull it off may not see the attraction of playing there as the screen can be a bit too overwhelming and the main focus of the show.
  4. Yet another 4 Eagles shows added. I think they're just going to continue adding Eagles weekends until they finally sign someone else to play there.

The Eagles are perfect for that sort of thing even more than U2. They’re old guys that don’t really have an agenda anymore. They don’t care about making new material, they just want to play live and make money. So like you said, they’ll just keep adding eagles shows until someone else plays there, and the Eagles are probably fine with that.

Rumor is they wanted U2 to sign on for an addition 30 shows, bringing the number up to 70! But U2 elected to move on after 40 shows. Probably wanted to get to work on the new album and get the next tour lined up. But U2 still think of themselves as an active band, at least Bono and Edge do. Whereas the Eagles are cool with being a legacy act.

Still surprised at the lack of acts they have lined up.
  6. Yeah IDK. The Eagles are only a fraction of what they were.. for that reason I wouldn't want to see them now. But good on them for wanting to keep performing and making some dinero

Only a handful of acts could fill that venue multiple times to make it a viable residency and the ones that can may not be enthusiastic about doing it as most bands like to be on the road playing different venues and cities to keep themselves and their fans appeased, the screen is so overbearing it takes your focus off the music at times and can be the loudest voice in the room.
  8. Older acts with an older audience who have a bigger disposable income.
