U2:UV Achtung Baby at the Sphere
Legs (1): 2023-2024
Shows: 40
Tickets:
  1. This is probably a naive - maybe even ignorant - opinion but the “quality” of artists taking their turn at the Sphere seems to be dropping drastically.
  2. Read the other day they are planning a twin venue in Abu Dhabi. If you can't get bands into Sphere in Vegas, the home of residences, can't see them queuing up to perform in Abu Dhabi.
  3. Sphere might be something that doesn't pay off at the beginning but in time will prove its worth.
  4. They finally announced the next artist to play at the Sphere.

    It's Dead & Company. Again.

So they're still having trouble convincing artists to play there, but one of the few that has seems to have enjoyed the experience enough to come back. Makes sense that they wouldn't be intimidated by the place since they've already played there.
  5. If U2 aren’t gonna be doing anything for awhile, why not add another round of shows in 2025? Just do the same thing as before, and mix it up just a little. Fuck it, I’ll go back!

Idk if I’d go quite that far. They’ll be at 5 artists in the first 14ish months of the building with very little downtime. We’ve already been told Zac Brown Band will be playing there next year. I’m a little surprised D&C went back so quickly, but I’m sure we’ll still see a few new acts next year
  7. Going back to Sphere for U2 and other artists makes sense.
  8. The email from the Sphere says:
"These will be the only Dead & Company concerts at Sphere in 2025."

Which obviously leaves open the possibility that they'll be back for more in 2026 or 27.

You would imagine that U2 have turned down some absolutely ridiculous numbers to return to Vegas for more shows.
  9. I’d be shocked if U2 does a residency anywhere ever again. I could see the sphere being treated like any other arena on a tour if a U2 stage fits…
  10. MSG themselves need to get more creative if they want money. Why not have local artists play at the Sphere? Why not host more events or even rent out to corporations for parties? Vegas residency is a big ask for anyone. Smaller bands at $50 a seat would be enthusiastic to play at such a venue. and it would sell because it’s Vegas

Somebody said they were trying to get U2 to add as many as 30 more shows throughout 2024, after the 40 that happened. Back then we all thought U2 wanted to finish their album so they could get on tour in 2025. Now… NOT!

They really can only focus on one thing at a time. Every other band hit up summer festivals or do residencies or whatever between albums/tours.
  12. Not sure where I should put this, but I think this is very nice to see
