1. I have a minority opinion. Though I did not like Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak album when it first came out in 2008 I now love it. Somehow his decision to sing through an auto-tune processor actually enhanced the lyrical themes of loss and alienation that came from heartbreak on that album. It all felt disconnected and disquieting and oddly more emotional because of that. And I feel like that is very much in the same vein as artists like David Bowie - or U2 in the 90s - who used vocal processing as part of the studio experimentation.
