    I am absolutely in the "wanting new music" category! This is the most frustrating lesson in patience lol.

    Anniversary tours don't fill me with excitement now. Sphere didn't excite me with it being in Vegas and no Larry.

    Whatever, whenever the next tour is, it will be the last big tour.

    So what exactly happened that a predicted tour and album in 2025 got scrapped? according to "various sources "it was definitely happening, maybe Lillywhite knew more than we thought when he said they weren't touring next year 🤔
  5. I'm lucky enough to have been to 22 U2 shows over the years, beginning with zoo tv. I've always loved that each tour was its own thing, heavily focused on the latest album. I can mark my life by U2 tours and the vibes and experiences associated with each one. I enjoyed the JT 2017 show I saw, but it didn't hold the same excitement for me. The two things I liked best about it were Anton's visuals on that screen and getting to hear "Little Things" in the encore. I didn't do the Sphere. I actually found the E&I shows I saw more moving than the I&E ones I saw. When Bono literally walked out of the arena after singing "13" I thought to myself, "If that's the way this ends for me, I'm ok with that." It seemed a fitting conclusion.

    I hope there is a new album soon and a tour soon after, but I feel immensely grateful for the journey they gave me/us. I'm personally not interested in a greatest hits tour or a tour without Larry.

    It's pretty obvious from the Zane Lowe stuff, whatever they have done on an album isn't something they feel like they are ready to release. Sounded to me like they were ready to go in and start it all again.

    Good post. For me it’s been 20 shows across 9 tours in 40 years, and if the U2 train was to reach its final destination somehow from here, I’d have no complaints. But I’ll be waiting patiently at the next album station hoping they’ve got at least one more in them.
  10. I too hope we get one more album and tour from the band - a tour that promotes that particular release.

    Hey, don't get me wrong, I immensely enjoyed the JT30 and Sphere shows that I attended. So much fun! However, it'd be great to them take (at least) one more kick at the can before it's all said and done.

Just to bring this all together in my head... after the conclusion of the Innocence & Experience, The Joshua Tree anniversary, Experience & Innocence & The Joshua Tree anniversary part two tours - we get Bono releasing a book & small tour to support. We get an album of 40 songs reimagined, most of which are chapters in Bono's book. We get a new song, songs & Bono feature in Sing 2. Then the band give us a new single last year about the city they play a residency in & proceed to play 40 shows without our founder due to him having multiple elective surgeries.

    All the while they all have separate projects going on in the background, as well as celebrate the anniversaries of multiple albums & singles. They also celebrate multiple past concerts & release select songs from each concert. Our singer claims to have an album complete, that he has spoken about for over a decade. But instead, the band won't release over a loud rock album with unreasonable guitars.

    The latest physical output is a 5 song EP of a never released before concert from ZooTV. On the anniversary of it's actual 20th anniversary of its release, another album will be celebrated with an unprecedented shadow album. Songs that were deemed unfit for the original album, now get their own release. The most highly sought after unreleased track, will feature under a different name & an altered chorus. And in an interview promoting the latest single of the shadow album; two band members appear from separate locations, explaining their desire to capture the band playing in a room together - moving forward with their next output.

    Does this actually mean they are starting from scratch on a new project or are they going to re-record the songs of the touted rock album? Our man at u2songs is reporting that the U2 tour crew have been released from duty for 2025, so speculation of a new album has shifted to late next year as best case scenario. With the youngest band member on the eve of turning 63, what does the future hold? Did Larry just get all those surgeries for one last hurrah of a massive world tour to support the f off rock album & then leave us with a 15 song quiet, meditative album as they complete the final show in Sydney or Dublin? Will Adam actually have the answers we crave in the article we're hanging on? 

    There is just no pattern to what the band do anymore. It used to be new album, then tour & they would have purpose and direction. Curious enough, they have never released a U2 LP in any year ending in 5. I guess we can only be grateful that they are still around, still together with all the original members and still intent on touring and releasing new material... but we remain clueless on when that might happen.
