1. The majority of fans going to shows are not like us on forums. Salaries are lower in Europe than in the US. Tickets will be priced accordingly. At least in the US they stopped doing seats on the floor after 1997 and haven’t returned to that nonsense since. The GA line and it’s faults is much better than paying thousands for a front row floor seat. And who knows, I thought the EU are investigating dynamic pricing, maybe it’ll be banned soon.

They are investigating in the EU...hoping that will at least raise the profile of it so artists know that it's troublesome, if it isn't outright stopped.

Bands can opt out of Dynamic pricing as we've seen The Cure,Ed Sheeran and a few other big acts do ,It will be interesting to see if U2 do the same or will they plead ignorance like Oasis and pretend they didn't know it was been used .
  4. I'm starting to realize dynamic pricing is very similar to booking a plane ticket.
  5. Lady Gaga at Copacabana Beach last night.

    From The Guardian:

"The concert, which city authorities expect will have injected 600m reais (£80m) into the local economy, is part of a project through which Rio plans to host a free music show of epic proportions every May for the next four years.

Madonna and Lady Gaga – whose climactic Bad Romance finale ended with heart-shaped fireworks exploding overhead – will be tough acts to follow. But for Monteiro, “there is no better place in the world to host free concerts”, because “we put on a show with the artist”."

I'm sure U2 would be on their list but these shows are not great for the fans, it's way too many people and all the corporate sponsors are at the front.

  6. Would watch it online but wouldn't go for the reasons you say

As well as that, lots of drunk/high/manic people being aggressively annoying and only interacting when they hear the 'hits'

  10. This may explain the band's hiatus as Alan Partridge announces Bono is on a sponsored silence, the end of the video particularly funny too around the 8:59 mark when Bono responds.
  11. If he's on a silence it's about to break. He's going to be doing a lot of promo for the film at the end of the month including podcast appearances...
