For me it’s ok if they don’t deliver until it’s anything good. Could be 8 years, fine.
Right? And that's fine if the songs they come up with are great (which they often have been in the past). I of course want to hear the personalities of the band members and the collective energy of them playing together live captured on record.

I just don't want them thinking that "back to basics" automatically equals a great album. I'd rather have them push themselves creatively, and maybe that involves messing with their sound again and letting the band evolve.

Plus...didn't they already give us a stripped down version of songs with SOS?

SOS was stripped down but it was mostly one guy in a room.

  3. Had they been on schedule with a new album, I don't think we would have seen this anniversary release at all.
  4. i always thought this: Pearl Jam made a great comeback with 'Dark Matter', U2 should take this route too
  5. U2 have already made several come back albums. Achtung Baby and ATYCLB for starters.
  6. I know the band hate Pop but it is mad that How to dismantle gets an anniversary album over Pop, criminal!

Its crazy to think that No Line on the Horizon is 14 years old!
  7. So The Rolling Stones went 8 years between Bridges to Babylon and A Bigger Bang. 1997-2005. HOPEFULLY U2 also have an 8 year album gap of 2017-2025. The Stones were at roughly the same point in their careers U2 are now, and roughly the same age.
  8. For me, the interview with Adam and Larry felt like a breath of fresh air, because it was the first time I've personally heard them being asked directly about the future, and Larry.

Zane's interview style irritates me a bit because he often talks over the artist, which is who we actually want to hear, and he also has a tendency to tell them what their own experience was like, which makes me cringe, but, it was so good to hear somebody finally address the elephant in the room!

As soon as they mentioned stripping everything back, it reminded me of when they said the exact same thing for ATYCLB.

Perhaps selfishly, I'm hoping they're keen to get back out on tour as soon as possible - with or without an album!

I'd love a new U2 album, but if they're going to have to labour over it for ages, then I say just scrap the idea and go on tour - none of us are getting any younger! Lol.
  9. Yes Zane Lowe talks to them like he's their best friend, yes maybe they respect him, I'm not sure why though. He reeks of bullshit.
