1. Still got pretty full in the end didn't it? I know there were freebies given away and resale tickets for only a few bucks...
  2. In 2010 Sydney 2 was half full. Adelaide in 2019 they brought the stage forward to the centre of the oval so it would look more full (attendance was 31k) It was surprising how the 2019 tour sold a lot less than previous Aus tours despite being a nostalgia tour. If they ever come back here they'll probably be in arenas.
  3. I remember reading that for Sydney 2010, night 1 had 65,000 people, and night 2 had around 40,000. Quite a step down from 3 sold out shows in 2006.

I believe Moscow 2010 always had a lot of empty seats, despite selling 60,000 tickets.

I find it fascinating that in 2015-2018 U2 were not filling arenas in some cities. That’s a pricing issue, U2 should have no trouble selling out 2 shows in Denver. Chicago, Philadelphia, etc.

as the prices were kind of steep as for 2009 (far grandstands for 100€+) it sold very very slowly, eventually it was probably almost sold out but the 2nd show never happened

Yeah I remember it was rumored Chorzow would have a 2nd show. Clearly that didn’t pan out, so they added a 2nd show in Zagreb instead on August 9th (the Aug. 10 show was announced first).
  5. Red Rocks 1983. Did it sell out? I am not speaking of attendance.
  6. I believe red rocks was sold out, but only like half of the crowd showed up. There was poor communication because the promoter announced it was cancelled, and that there’d be a rescheduled show the next night at an indoor venue. But then U2 wanted to proceed with the filming as they had a lot of money invested in it, so they put the word out that the concert was still on.

The makeup show still happened for the people who couldn’t make it out to red rocks, or that didn’t get the message about the show still happening.
  7. Seats sure but it was very weird being able to follow the band in GA like that.
  8. I was at the Michigan State show in 2011 and they only let a small amount of people on the GA field. The stadium/university limited the capacity. As such, it looked really weird. There’s a picture of it somewhere.
  9. Seems like Auckland 2 and Adelaide sold pretty poorly in 2019. Auckland night 1 sold out at around 40,000 tickets, and then night 2 had less than 30,000 tickets sold. Compared to 2006 and 2010 where all 4 shows were packed, same stadium.

Sydney 2019 took place in a smaller venue to get 2 nights to happen.

Melbourne 2019 was supposed to have a 2nd show on 11/16. However, sales were slow enough for the first show that a second didn’t happen. Also the same stadium as 2006 and 2010. Interestingly they sold 127,000 tickets for 2 shows in 2006. Meanwhile in 2010 they sold only 105,000, despite utilizing the entire stadium and more seating available.

It’ll be interesting to see what they do in Australia/NZ next time.

When you say they "Only sold 105,000 tickets"you make it sound like it's some sort of flop ,there are a lot of mid sized bands that would be lucky to sell that amount of tickets for an entire tour let alone 2 gigs in one city ,I remember during Popmart a lot of the British press were gunning for them and trying to make out the tour was a total failure yet they still ended up with one of the biggest tours of the decade playing to nearly 4 million people a feat most other bands could only dream of.

Melbourne not getting a second show still haunts me. I chose Melbourne as it was rumoured for 2. Saying that, Singapore was always rumoured for 1 but ended up getting 2!
