1. I suggested to Kevin on his Instagram must have been years ago will he do U2 prints... a book is perfect.

On the eve of U2’s 50th anniversary, this extraordinary compilation unveils a treasure trove of mainly previously unseen and unpublished photographs, which providea rare perspective on the legendary band during a transformative chapter in their history.

Captured by acclaimed photographer Kevin Davies, the images document the 1990s - a period of reinvention and creative achievement for the band. Davies, who followed the group both on stage and behind the scenes, offers an intimate view of their world, revealing candid and spontaneous moments that expose the raw essence of their artistry. From Bono’s commanding presence to Larry Mullen Jr.’s focused resolve; The Edge’s boundless creativity and Adam Clayton’s calm confidence; these photographs showcase their unique personalities and shared dynamism, as they tackle groundbreaking projects and iconic tours. Published to commemorate half a century of U2’s cultural impact, this volume honors their extraordinary legacy while illuminating a pivotal era of artistic evolution. More than a collection of photographs, it serves as a lasting chronicle of creativity, resilience, and the enduring magic of one of the most influential rock bands of all time.

  2. Wow, I remember suggesting U2 prints to Kevin too—feels like forever ago! So glad this book is happening. The 1990s were such a wild ride for the band; the photos sound like they’ll capture that reinvention energy perfectly.

  4. I'll definitely be ordering this. The best era of the band by far and the one I miss most.
  5. Yes - U2 at their most rebellious

2000 onwards there have been some good moments but none live up to those heady days

They are always a great live band - but back then they were concert innovators

2000 onwards things like the Claw and JT's widescreen have been impressive but seemed rather pre-meditated - if you see what I mean

2000 onwards performance wise - the Elevation tours were excellent and the 360 tours had highlights too (UV especially) though the setlist for that tour wasn't one of my favourites

Yeah I enjoyed the ATYCLB era at the time as I assumed it was just a brief dip back into their more commercial side just to prove they still could and then it'd be back to pushing boundaries again but how wrong I was about that... For me personally, they just seem to have completely lost the ability to write anything that remotely moves me (probably since the song Moment of Surrender) and I think if you went back in time to the band in the 90's and told them they'd become a nostalgia act playing two Joshua Tree tours and a Vegas residency without a band member, they'd just simply not believe you...

On a personal level, I essentially stopped being a 'present day fan' of the band after NLOTH but I am still fully obsessed with what they were in the 90's and still think it sounds as fresh and interesting now as it did back then. I absolutely ADORED the band back then and couldn't wait to see what the next album would bring as it was always challenging and interesting. So this book will be a bit of a nostalgia bible for me.

Going back to the book though, it's a bit vague and confusing. It seems the front cover still hasn't been decided as there are two different covers shown across the different links on the book web page. I don't think much of the Sarajevo cover (it's a great candid photo but pretty random and doesn't define what the band were in the 90's). And it's unclear whether the book will just contain photos or whether there will be interesting anecdotes and information to go with each photo? Will it involve band members recollections etc? Also, what's that t-shirt outline thing on the Amazon link?! Do you get a free t shirt with the book? If it's going to have the Sarajevo photo on it then I hope not.. That would definitely NOT be a cool t shirt to be seen in!

It's just showing how big the book is, roughly.
  8. Kevin was there for so much. Stay music video and Sarajevo are things that stand out to me. Looking forward to seeing those.

  10. Got my copy today. It's great. Many photos that I have never seen before.
