1. As far as rumors go, U2 may have 2-3 albums left:

-The "Joy/Carnival Album" one by the end of this year

    -Songs of Ascent

-The "Sci-Fi Space Folk Rock Album" with Eno (although we don't know if they could release this as EP or as Passengers 2)

I don't know if the "full rock album" is still happening, or if it's the one coming out later this year...

@U2W! - would agree with this? Who is producing the Fall album?

    Thanks as always

    Great news, thank you!
  4. I still can’t listen to the chorus of American Obituary without thinking the chorus of Love You Like Mad is about to hit
  5. 24/5 songs but they only release 12 this year.
I think it’s more probable the leftover 12 get reworked to death then scrapped than have a proper release. I’m assuming these tracks aren’t planned for Ascent.

I am genuinely concerned for my ability to hear great music as everyone seems to love this new stuff while i have tried and tried ( repeated listens ) to like it but I just don’t.

Nothing wants me to go back and listen to it again.

I have a mate ( not on forums ) who like me has been a fan since ‘under a blood red sky’ who also thinks the new stuff is average at best.

I just can’t put my finger on it!

What am I missing! Enlighten me lol

I appreciate you giving the songs more than one listen

And I do know what you mean as I don't think it's their greatest work but it is good all the same

For me, I think they stopped sounding like 'U2' around the time of ATYCLB and have gone steadily off course (though not all bad) since

I loved/love POP but I can see why at that time a lot of the fans lost interest in the band - because they didn't sound like 'U2' to them

The band have made some great music post POP but nothing that can top those heady days of the 80s and 90s

    That 'U2' is dead

If you listen to their new stuff acknowledging that then I think you can enjoy it more

    If you can't then I don't know

But I guess you yourself are a totally different person to your 80s and 90s 'versions' - yes?

The only thing I do know is 'U2' still do exist in a live setting - regardless of mediocre albums their gigs have always been great

Well, that's my 2 cents anyhoo

  7. Impossible to rank these but these would be my ten.

•Unknown Caller (live version influenced my love for this song )
    •No Line on the Horizon
•You’re the best thing about me ( almost my fav of all )
•Breathe ( live version influenced my love of this song )
•Lights of Home ( an absolute fav )
•Sometimes You Can’t make it on your Own ( love this song )
    •Magnificent ( top 3 for sure )
•California ( something about the time in my life that resonates with this song )
•Vertigo ( the last track I guess a lot of my circle loved )
•Crumbs from your table ( top 4 all time for mine )

There you go. Not sure how that equates into my current position. I think some of my dislike for DOA is the production and the ‘thinness’ of Bono’s vocal delivery.
