1. I think this deserves a topic too.

    Very different and interesting one.
  2. I think this one is a bit special.
  3. Best song on EL.
  4. Very very emotional piece of music.
  5. This one is very different and minimalist - but I do like the different vocal approaches - not quite Passengers, not quite - not sure what to make of it. As such, given it has almost no background to it, it's hard to rate as a 'song' and the title of 'soundscape' is far more apt.

Parts of it (particularly the very muted percussive/synth adds in the beginning) remind me of part of 13.

Did you see Brian Eno is credited as songwriter?

I think this must have been an ambient piece of music that Eno had lying around and they put some extra bits of music and Bono's recited lyrics on top of it. Do you have any additional info about this particular song @u2wanderer1 ?

It is as you suggest. An older piece of music that Eno had done (with the band) that Bono and Jacknife Lee worked over top of. (Not sure on the age of the Eno music, could have been some of the material he worked on with the band more recently that they grabbed and finished off...)

Edge: "We started this one with Brian Eno. It was a Bono riffing over these beautiful chords from Brian. Bono and Jacknife Lee revisited the track and like a jazz man Brian went all out. Totally unbridled. I had very little to do with this track but it's one of my favorite pieces of music we have made recently."

Eno: "Watching the global creep of fascism is disheartening. I'd been reading about another abhorrent incidence of it - this time in Israel - when Bono sent me the completed version of this song. It had a powerful effect on me. I was angry and upset by the new I'd read but moved by this song of gratitude which reminded me that focussing on what is going right is as essential as its opposite. The two ways of changing the world are (loosely speaking): stop something bad or start something good. The song reminded me that they go hand in hand. And although I don't address my thanks to 'the Lord', I felt like I was saying thank you for this life. Thank you for existence."

I'd suggest taking a look through the Propaganda magazine that accompanies this issue. easterlily.u2.com - both of the quotes above are taken from it.
  8. Just love this
    The band being creative
    Great
Hope the same for the new record
  9. The only song that I would come back to from this EP.

Bono's spoken word parts are great. Not a big fan of the "Changes" parts though.

Wait, you didn't like any of the others?
  11. It is my favourite track on the new EP. I hear Bono on a walk by himself on a beach in the woods, taking refuge from a traumatic social situation. The light heartedness of the song implies that he is finding personal space an escape. I love the way the vocoder 'filters' his voice. The lack of instrumentation also adds to the power of the track. It's really heavy..

The 'changes' are brash and abrupt, l.agree.
