1. Hi friends!
I recently noticed that the bootleg U2START have of the great show of Slane Caslte 2001-09-01 has a low quality. It is officially a Standard Audience bootleg, and I confirm that! I downloaded it just to see if it were at least decent, but then I found it not worth listening: it's difficult to hear even Bono's voice! It's easier to hear the audience that sing than his voice!
So I open this topic to ask the bootleg-experts of our site: why don't we have a better-quality version of this great great great show? I understand that sometimes there isn't a high-quality record of a show, but this one was released on a DVD, wasn't it? So why there's not any available bootleg taken from the DVD?
    Thanks in advance!

  2. Because that's illegal, the DVD is official metarial and any audio rips of that DVD are illegal too. You can rip the audio of your own DVD for private purpose if you want to but it cannot be used for U2start, if it is, it will bring this site into trouble.
  3. Oh sorry, I knew that but I forgot.
Anyway my question remains, even if only in part. But I can image the next answer I'll receive, that's no better-quality bootleg of Slane Castle 2 has been found anywhere...
Well, anyway I just wanted to underline that we really need a better-quality bootleg for that show, 'cause it was a great show according to everybody.
If anyone wants to say something about why we don't have a better-quality bootleg for this show, he's welcome.

  4. First I want to say that I'm pleased when it's you, Remy, who answers my questions, 'cause you're the most expert here. Thanks for all!

Then, I think you're right about the best solution to this problem. I think U2 GO HOME is the next U2's DVD I'll buy, so it'll be alright soon. But this is just a personal solution, not for the whole U2START community. Anyway I understood the situation, nowadays (and maybe it will be this way forever... ) the best-quality bootleg of Slane Castle 2 is just that we already have.
So thanks again for the attention!

Yeah it's the DVD that made me a U2 fan!

Without that DVD, there wouldn't even be a U2start
  7. Seeing Red Rocks put U2 firmly in my interest, watching Slane DVD effectively made them my favorite band. The greatest concert film I've ever seen

Glad to know that! For me it was Rattle And Hum VHS and then DVD, mate! Had I gotten into U2 later I wouldn't be surprised if Slane would have put me "over The Edge."

2003-07-13 I turned 17 years old and got a CD-burner for my birthday. I spent all day figuring out how to audio-rip Rattle And Hum. I had been looking forward to this moment for several years (at least 3-4). I KNEW there must be a way to get the whole movie on 2 CDs, I just didn't know how until that day. At 3am the following morning, my audio-rip album was complete. It was one of the most ecstatic moments of my life.

Please don't ask for illegal software, go search for it somewhere else but not here.
