  1. i think the last time that bono really had a crack whilst singing with or without you was on the Zoo TV tour... i want your opinion... what is the best live performance of with or without you in the modern era??? that includes the POPmart, elevation and vertigo tours...

  2. I would be inclined to say the Milan DVD or the later dates on the Elevation Tour.
  3. Yeah WOWY from Boston 2001 is great. Despite Bono's horrible voice then.

  6. Also for me the version of Milan 2005-07-21 is one of the best, most of all because it was played with some good variations.

  7. Slane 2, POPMART Tel Aviv and Mexico City, Vertigo Buenos Aires. I'm not huge on the Vertigo ones because Edge's guitar doesn't sound as good.
  8. i love the milan version, great drums great voice and edge's mysterious guitar.
  9. wow. listening to with or without you from rattle n hum, zoo t.v., pop, elevation and vertigo is like a case study in the decline of bonos voice.
    have a listen yourselves - the decline is is quite noticeable.
    anyway lets not nit-pick here, its one of the all time great rock ballads and should be in every u2 setlist in my opinion, bono just has to alter his technique when singing it - much like he has done during vertigo and elevation tours.
    and finally to answer the the question, the best modern performance would be milan vertigo.

    Correct. I raised the point in an earlier topic. ZSpecifically 1992 ZooTv shows. Bono as Macphisto in 1993 didnt give it his all
