1. What are some of the best covers of U2 songs by other bands? I know a few and some are really great. Oh, and I don't count tribute bands (who ONLY cover U2 songs) or youtube private videos (established musical acts only).

    To name a few:

Keane - With or Without You
    Robbie Williams - One
    Howie Day - One
The Killers - In a Little While

Wow....my mind is blank more so than usual. Can't think of any more. But for those who haven't heard the Howie Day version of One, check it out, its extraordinary (not better than the original of course)

***oh and as a sub-question: If the band got into a fight, who would win?
(Note: they can not use musical instruments as weapons)

    My money's on Larry
  2. Robbie William's was absolutley piss and I hated Keanes cover of WOWY but Howie Day's cover of One is breathtaking. (check out his cover of The Verve - The Drug's Don't Work) its just wow.

About the fight thing, i'd love to say Larry but I choose Edge and i'll explain why. Bono says 'don't ever pick a fight with a man who makes a living out of hand-eye co-ordination'. He said that after himself and Edge came to blows at an early gig that wasn't going well. So I say Edge
  3. hmmmm scobby snax band has the best cover of streets ever totally original

and gerard could you explain your avatar? its so tight to me it looks like larry is singing and bono is drumming so would you please enlighten me?

it's from a show in Providence, Rhode Island, 2001-10-31 which if you don't know, is Larry's birthday. Bono invited the crowd to sing happy birthday and then invited Larry to take the mic and say a few words (which he did, while Bono casually took a seat and Larry's drum kit). It does look like Larry is singing though. Great little pic
  5. Someone should put together a compilation of bearable to good U2 covers....I would, but I don't have any.
