1. Not sure if this has already been posted, but an interesting read!

(Commenting on contributing to the documentary soundtrack)

"We talked about what I could do, or would I do anything, and, as you know, I got injured, so it was difficult for me to figure out what I could do. Thankfully, last couple of months, I was able to get back at it."

DEADLINE: I have to ask, if for no other reason that millions of U2 fans will roast me if I don’t: how is your health, how is your injury? How is the process of recovery?

MULLEN: I’m recovering. It’s just slow. And yeah, I’m anxious to get back, and this was a very good way back in. You know, there’s, there’s plans to go back into the studio and that. So, yeah, it’s exciting, but it is slow. Thank you for asking, though Dominic.
  2. Good questions by Andy Greene. Those are the questions fans want to know.

I agree with tuf392664, getting a new album in 2025 will be a stretch. We updated our "upcoming releases" to say Fall 2025 at the earliest for a reason. It very much sounds like they did work on all of this, and then in the end decided to rewind once again and start over with all four of them in a room. There seems to have been a major change in plans since July-August.
They should release another demo compilation consisting of all the work since 2017 that they shelved in July.
  4. So the album that was supposed to be a heavy rock now has no direction. And the 70% done Songs of Ascent isn’t 70% done since they don’t even know what songs are on it.

I smell another attempt at recreating Vertigo incoming. Every first single since Vertigo has been a “vertigo” attempt. Miracle, best thing, boots
  5. I think if the band put out a radio-edit of the original Mercy, it would be a huge radio hit
  6. Perhaps if members of the band appear at any of the listening parties, we might find out a little more. Probably wishful thinking, though!
  7. “We’re really at that phase of just experimenting, letting the music tell us what to do”

“… playing in the room together…”

“… . I think the guitar will be a big part of the next record…”

“… we’re starting to go through some of those, and we’ve got an awful lot of material to wade through…”

I think anyone of us on here could write an Edge interview almost as well as we could do a Bono one.

Nothing new here, nothing to see. A new record is a long, long way off.

He's promoting Atomic Bomb 💣 boxsets so doesn't want to give too much information about upcoming music as it will become the main focus of the interview, they are pros at marketing after over 40 years in the business it's why they are one of the most successful band's of all time.
  9. Who knows, maybe we'll be surprised and see a new album earlier than we expect. I'm not holding my breath too much, though. Being a U2 fan requires a lot of patience lol.
