1. Is U2 memorabilia really collectible? I’ve never bought anything U2 related besides cds, tickets and t shirts. How many thousands are really buying boxsets?
  2. I think they’re just promoting HTDAAB and HTRAAB. I personally think and hope we will be shocked by how quick compared to some peoples estimates on when the new album gets released. They all want to get back on the road and release new music and tour. Sounds like Larry feels the same too.
  3. at this point i'll pay attention to Oasis, see ya later U2 (i dont even know if it'll be a good album)

I'm expecting it to be a long wait.

It's rare these days for anything to take off in price. Because they are producing it in quantities that they'll be able to sell to those who want it.

The things that go up in price are usually quite limited, or are hard to get your hands on, or both.

The red vinyl Joshua Tree release which was given out to VIP attendees on the 2019 tour went up into the triple digits, but seems to have settled in around $300. The black and white Blackout release, limited to 750 copies went up over $1000 for a while, but it too has settled in quite a bit lower. Wide Awake in Europe jumped way up in price and still goes for around 500$.

Most of the merch is pretty readily available while the tour is on, but will take a bit of a jump after a tour. The Sphere posters were hard to get if you weren't there each week, so some of those fetch decent money, especially in good condition because they were so hard to transport without damaging the foil.

A few other odds and ends jump to mind from more recently. The Songs of Surrender SHM set from Japan jumped up in price. So did the promo box set from the A Sort of Homecoming with David Letterman special (containing a set of airpods among other goodies.)
  6. I'm in the same boat, U2 need to have a the best 'publicity machine' behind them and a great new album next time around otherwise they are really going to dwindle in their twilight years - I never thought I would say that about them - I always thought this band would always remain relevant and have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to the next moves and steps they make.

PS: Please get a decent management team as well.

Going to? They already have. Haven't been relevant since 2014
  8. The concerning thing for me was Edge's comment about having started over 100 songs but there being No Album On The Horizon. Either there's a lot of indecision and self-doubt, or the quality is poor and they're all duds / album fillers. As someone said earlier, it takes a lot of patience to be a U2 fan.
  9. If they had a deadline to put out an album/tour I'd say we'd see more urgency or progress. Because they don't even know when they'll tour again they're probably just plotting along and will get back into it in 2025.
  10. They most likely don't know when they'll tour because the album isn't ready, not the other way around.

Anyway, as disappointed as I am with all of this, I recognize that they actually don't have to do anything. With the money they all have and things they've accomplished, they could just full on retire and hang out on their yachts in the Mediterranean. At this point I'm happy there's talk of another album and a tour at all.

I believe the album is the issue as well. It sounds like they've rewound, and are starting at least some of it over. They have no plans to tour at moment, and no discussion on touring, deciding instead to focus on album before looking at touring at this point. They did this a number of times with Songs of Innocence, and at least once with Songs of Experience. Near a release and then just junk it. SOI almost came out in 2011 and again in 2013, SOE nearly came out in 2016.
  12. It will be crazy nearly 9 years since SOE if the new album is 2026.
