Larry wasn’t ready. They will get into it and new album in 2025

  2. Looking likely though from reading between the lines 🙈
  3. The wait isn’t an issue to me. It’s the quality of the material that will determine if starting fresh has been a good choice or not. If they release their best album of the 21st century then even if it’s 10 years the wait will have been worth it. Better than releasing 2 albums in that time that are both average. If the next album is average even after the wait then maybe the band just aren’t good enough anymore, which is ok, they’re allowed to try and fail. All I do hope, which we likely will never know exactly, is the band are putting a real effort into it, every band member giving it 100%. If they do that then they aren’t short changing us whatever the results.
  4. At this point the wait should be an issue. They're getting older and we have very little time now left, especially to see them live. Maybe Larry wasn't ready yet, but I think main reason is market over saturation. Everyone beside U2 is touring next year. I just hope there still will be a free world to tour and also their will to do so, in 2026 or whatever the best case scenario is now...

They rerecorded parts of a 20 years old song that pretty much everyone loved and decided to release an inferior new version of that demo instead of just giving us the version we wanted.

It's no surprise that they lack self confidence and third guess every move they mske

If they want to tour in the summer of 2026, they need to get tickets on sale a year in advance. That’s the trend these days. Otherwise other acts will do that, and saturate the market once again for 2026. I think that’s actually a big part of it. Larry is the other, bigger reason. If it were up to Edge he’d just tinker in the studio everyday for the rest of his life, that’s his passion. Since these other factors have come into play, he’s just tinkering more because he can. I think that once they have a firm timeline, they’ll be able to pull together an album quickly enough.
  7. I agree with so many of the sentiments shared here.

I don't mind waiting for an album if it's going to be great quality, but it would be frustrating if we waited a few years for them to be perfectionists and then the end result is not so great!

Isn't there an old adage about a good artist knows when to stop?

I can't believe Bono has talked about a unreasonable guitar record for so long, and now they're having a complete change of direction!

Great news that they're back in the studio with Larry - I suppose this was never guaranteed to happen, and we should be thankful for that, despite our impatience!

I'm sure they will be having discussions about what the future holds, we just need to wait and see...!
  8. all i know is that larry dropped a good song

reading this made me sick, U2 had one good thing to do and they just fucked it, i’ll be out of this for a very looong time, can’t believe this shit.
  10. I'm actually encouraged by the Rolling Stone interview. Last thing I wanted was a 'meat n potatoes' dad rock record. Another Boots or Vertigo ? No thanks. I'm encouraged that The Edge is talking about making the guitar not sound like a guitar , this invokes a Zooropa like soundscape. Along with Edge talking about the random 'hour' in the studio where all members bang about on different instruments and let someone lead and let the music take them in a direction they might not normally go .... this is a good thing!! They did this during the recording sessions for Zooropa. Jackknife Lee is also a great choice for producer. Just keep The Edge away from the Casio Keyboard and the mixing desk and we might be in for a banger of an album.
  11. Yes that is the impression I get too. Rather than straighforward songwriting.. Bashing it up in a room and experimenting with guitar sounds.
Wonder what he meant with different sessions for different projects?
  12. And we have other sessions booked for potential different projects, which will probably all end up being folded into the U2 project, but we are working with other people and enjoying that
