1. As someone only 4 or 5 years younger than the band members I can’t help but be amused (and partly offended) by repeated comments that “they’re not getting any younger”, seemingly implying that death is a realistic possibility or soon they’ll be too senile to be creative. Yes, we’re no longer young and there’s more years behind us than in front of us but we’re not old yet; there is still plenty of spirit left in us.

  2. Recently watching the Do They Know It's Christmas video (above) - did Edge really have a kidney infection?

Will someone please get this man a chair and let him sit down

Age isn't a barrier to art or creativity - only one's mental state is

No different to any other band from their era so can you name any band from the 70s/80s who are relevant and when they last were ? ,most of them don't even bother putting out new music The Cure put out their first album in 17 years ,GnR, The Stones similar gaps between albums yet still sell out Arenas/Stadiums across the globe.

    Sounds dubious to me.

Exactly. Hence the frustration. Lots of older people continue to make great art. Why can't one of the greatest bands of all time? What's stopping them from going for it?

This was actually a point they were making around No Line wasn't it? Talking about how in music people are really focused on "age" but artists who paint, draw, create etc can continue into older age and still be regarded as pushing creative boundaries.

  8. NEED THIS VERSION TO BE RELEASED SOMEDAY CMON IT’s THE BEST VERSION OF EVEN BETTER THAN THE REAL THING
  9. Not even an attempt at the ‘higher’ part. It was much better on zoo tv and Popmart, this is just a novelty version because it was quite rare on the elevation tour. It was the same with zoo station and magnificent on I&E. Terrible versions that get more attention than they deserve because they were rarities on that tour.
  10. nah, on no singing “take me higher” makes it even better
  11. Back in 92-93, I saw a TON of U2 shows from indoor arena’s to stadiums and the band was much younger and better than they are today, Music is young man’s game, while Bono is the same age as I, I’m not calling Bono over the hill or finished, but he and his band mates are not the same 35 yrs ago and that’s to be realized, he’s also had a history of health issues during that span which eventually take a toll and as you get older you need to adapt differently, just the fact that they still draw massive crowds say a lot for a band that started in 1979 out of Ireland.
