1. A few of mine:

    * All files named as track01/track02/track03 etc. Means I have to figure out which file which track is and rename it myself.
    * Bootlegs without a tracknumber, so only Elevation/Beautiful Day etc. as filenames, means I have to add tracknumbers myself and put them in the right order.
    * Incorrect song names i.e. Pride instead of Pride (In The Name Of Love), Sunday instead of Sunday Bloody Sunday, WTSHNN instead of Where The Streets Have No Name and so on.
    * Snippets as seperate file names, All I Want Is You snippets during Bad on the ZooTV tour are often in a different file than the song Bad, doesn't make sense since it isn't a whole song, that's misleading if you ask me.

In the future we should make a list of all bootlegs without correct filenames etc. and replace them with good ones. Sidenote: this is no criticism to the uploaders, I appreciate all the effort but certain things can be done better for sure.

    Your turn now
  2. · Inconsistency with the album titles

There isn't exactly an album title rulebook, though, and everyone likes it a different way. I usually name mine: "______ Tour: Live in ______ (Date)".

I always do it the way bootlegs are displayed here.

    First I have:
    Bootlegs
    Then folders like:
    1989 - Lovetown
    1992 - ZooTV etc.
    Then folders like:
    Leg 1 - North America
    Leg 2 - Europe etc.
    Then folders like:
    2005-07-13 - Amsterdam, Netherlands - Amsterdam ArenA

I don't think I can make it more easier for myself

  5. I think it could also help giving the bootleg title along with the date. With that info you can check the bootleg indexes in the net to find out if there are missing songs with that particular title, or if you can find a better recording. I'll give you an example: 1989-12-26 exists as 'X-mas at the Point Depot' and 'St. Stephens at the point'. This second title misses Love rescue me, cuts in at the begining and sounds a little slower. The 'X-mas at the point depot' contains the full show and plays at the right speed. Most of the times we try to upload the covers, but it's notalways possible, so you miss some extra info.

I personally dislike bootleg names, I prefer refering to the taper or equipment or something.

Yeah, sometimes they are... peculiar, but it helps to set which age the recording comes from. But it's not so hardto deal with. Now I'm remembering another thing that annoys me... sometimes tracks are named in different nomenclature for the same concert... first half goes 01-song title, 02-song title, etc, but for second half it goes 02-01-sontitle, which means they belong to disc No. 2. I think it's useless to state the number of disc since it's a single archive and it messes up the order in set list, because my PC puts toghether songs with similar numbers, so I have to check the setlist correct order to rename my files.
  8. Out of curiosity, is there a majority of people out there that actually burns tracks to CDs? I tend to either listen through iTunes on my computer or through my iPod, so disc separation kind of bugs me as well, though it may be helpful to others.

Yeah disc trackorders suck, I can advise all of you to use "Better File Renamer", you can add new numbers, easily adjust track names etc. I dislike it when there are two discs who both start at track 1, I'll remove the tracknumbers from the second disc and start counting at the end of disc1 again.

I don't think many people burn it to CD's.

Well, I only burn the files on DVD for backup purposes. For myself I don't burn Audio CDs.

My "analog" stereo equipment (CD-Player / amplifier) is in "silent mode" for some time now!

Usually I'm using my PC or my mp3-player.

  11. My biggest pet peeve is when you do burn it to a disc you get tiny gaps between the songs. I don't do it much anymore, but when I do, I try and burn only shows that have no gaps. The worst is when you get the 2 sec gap...totally ruins it. But I do have a handfull of gapless shows on disc for my car, which is nice for those long drives.....
