I think the lyrics are fine. The way I see it is that the person is lost and wants to end his life. So he is walking through the night to jump from a cliff or bridge (On the edge of the known universe where I wanted to be), but then he hears a voice (an unknown caller) who tells him not to do it and that he must reboot himself
