1. I got it for Christmas. Its a big book, but I couldn't put it down I found it that Interesting.

I learnt so much as well.

Has anybody else had the pleasure of reading it?
  2. Yeah I read it all in the past months, learned some new things but nothing shocking unfortunately
  3. Nothing shocking?
The chronicle of the Red Rocks' show is awesome! Also the references to the chaos in the early concerts are funny, and how they relate the performance of LiveAid...
    I love U2 by U2
  4. I basically kept at it for days until it was done. I knew much of it, but it did offer some different angles on events, I guess.

I thought it was very well done. I especially like to see the nuts and bolts behind specific songs.
  5. When you listen to In A Little While after knowing that Bono was sleep deprived and hungover after a heavy session, you somewhat appreciate it that little bit more
  6. I know I'm a little late to the party on this one, but I just started to read this book. I'm about 80 pages in loving the talk about the early band days. It's really a fun read, just wish I had more time.

Does anyone know how the interviews were conducted? Were they all at once for the purpose of this book, or were they taken over several years?

Just curious, there was no introduction explaining the process.
  7. I'm almost certain the interviews were conducted individually during the South American leg of the Vertigo tour, although with that being such a short leg I'm not sure all of the interviews were done then. I thought the book touched on that, but it's been years since I read it.
  8. It's worth noting that Neil McCormick was a ghost writer on U2byU2 as well, so a LOT of those recounts of the early days were probably heavily helped by him lol.

I love this book, but I still consider At the End of the World the best U2 book. U2ByU2 is their story told in their own words, whereas End of the World is told by someone else, warts and all, and it's awesome. Not to mention it covers easily the "best" period of U2.

That being said, I love reading the first few chapters of U2byU2 every now and then, usually stopping around the UF era. There's so much goodness in the stories of their early years
  9. Thanks for the input. Funny that you mention At the End of the Wolrd. I picked up a copy of that at the same when I got U2byU2. Looking forward to reading that as well. Not sure why I haven't read these until now, but you know, life gets in the way and all that...
  10. I have been looking at Elevate Me Here: 2000 2002 recently. Anyone read it?
  11. I have it ever since it came out. Really nice if you like the Elevation tour. It has reports and stories on every show. I pick it up once in a while, especially when listening to an Elevation show.

  12. I haven't heard of that one. I love the Elevation tour, may need to seek this one out.
