Or will they just milk JT, AB, ATYCLB and Bomb every 5/10 years.

Will they do Boy, War, October, UF?

I'm hoping the POP boxset is good.
Hard to predict but the 50th anniversaries of their first 4 studio albums start from 2030 so that would be the most likely time to see anything for the early stuff, especially as the bands work rate will likely be slowing down even further by then. The main one I’m wanting is TUF for a live show from that tour. Pop would be good if it has previously unreleased studio work. Rattle and hum is maybe one they’ll take a look at since they have the rights to that now. The outtakes would really complete that. It’s good that edge was happy to go back in and complete demo’s for HTDAAB as it might mean more demo’s from various sessions and era’s get a release at some point in the future. Maybe the bits post HTDAAB in particular might get some sort of stand alone outtakes cd release. They’ll probably feel they have the rest covered by then.
  2. When it comes to The Joshua Tree, I think we might hear an Atmos mix of the album in 2027 (and maybe the Corbijn 2017 tour movie? there's still a lot of possibilities for that anniversary). And I'll believe in the Pop boxset when I see it. What we have for now has been a polite answer from Edge about the possibility of it, but I think it all depends on how it fits into the new album/tour cycle. From what I recall the HTDAAB reissue wasn't in the plans until it became clear that no new music is coming out in late 2024/early 2025.
  3. I want an atmos mix of POP more than any other album.

All U2 albums from Boy to HTDAAB already got boxset releases, except for Rattle & Hum, POP and also Zooropa that was only released as part of Achtung Baby boxset, but without any bonus tracks, remixes or live stuff specifically from Zooropa era. I don’t think we will get any of those boxsets anytime soon, if at all, as those are the albums that they hate (Rattle & Hum and POP) or don’t really treat as full-fledged studio albums (Zooropa). They also hate NLOTH cause of lack of hit singles, so much that it was the only album, apart from October, that was not even represented on SOS. Finally SOI and SOE are too recent for boxsets. As a result I think chances are that HTDAAB will be the last boxset that we will get from U2 for many more years to come.

From what has been shared with me in the past these big box sets are being saved for what they see as their biggest releases. The Joshua Tree, All That You Can't Leave Behind and now How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb were all put together by one team. Achtung Baby kind of got done under the previous campaign, but was more oriented toward CD and video than these current boxes, but that release is likely why we didn't see more done in 2021. The box sets don't really sell all that well so they'll likely stick with what they expect will sell well. (They sold less than 3000 copies of Atomic Bomb in the UK across all formats last week including streaming equivalents, and the big box would be a fraction of that number.)

I expect as you guess, they'll do vinyl represses going forward for the others. Boy had a box set in 2008, and got a vinyl repress for the 40th. NLOTH had a clear vinyl pressing for it's 10th, etc.

Achtung Baby / The Joshua Tree of course stand out. All That You Can't Leave Behind is an expected third. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb has the Grammy success and did well in sales. If I had to pick out another 'big' one it would be "Rattle and Hum" - maybe not the most critically applauded but sales were good, people remember it fondly and they had a lot of success with the singles. They were working on some sort of big release in 2018 for the 30th anniversary but ran into some issues with Paramount, which have now been resolved. Would be nice if it included the film as well. They've really aimed these last few at the audio market...
  7. The 40th of Joshua Tree is realistically only 27 months away. I would buy it if they put on the Anton film. Would they have released it in 2017 if they had not toured the album

I would be great to get a POP 2027 set but that and R&H are all we have to look forward to atm. The rest will be drips and drabs and of little significance.
