1. A band that everyone should know. Absoutely brilliant band with Jack White who is an amazing guitarist. I only just re-discovered them when I was watching Live Under Blackpool Lights on Q the other night. They don't take breaks during songs, they just join all the songs together. I also like how it's a 2 person band and they're music works brilliantly. It sounds like 4 or 5 people are in the band. Anyone like them?
  2. I raelly liked them like a year ago but I'm over it. It's too basic.

  3. yeah, I agree with you entirely. It's basic but I think it works well. I think Jack White's guitar work makes up for it

I could watch him in "It Might Get Loud" pretty much over and over and over again; when it comes to what he's actually put on records, I can barely stand any of it.
  5. I like Elephants and Get Behind Me Satan, but the other songs...
  6. The white stripes or my 2nd best band and you carnt judge them untill youve seen em ive coz there just so much better than they are on the albums,,ive seen them 7 times and they never disapoint.

Did you see them at Blackpool in 2004?

  8. Seven Nation Army, that's all I know
  9. Some like them some don't. No one says anyone has to like them. But those that said "too basic" haven't given them a fair shake. Which once again, is fune but the loss is yours.

First two White Stripes records were more about a new version of old `20's to `40's blues. 'White Blood Cells' was more of a rock record. There are still blues. There are acoustic numbers like "We're Going To Be Friends" but mostly it is a tight garage-rock record. 'Elephant' took that a step farther. 'Get Behind Me Satan' offered more variety in music styles and sounds. There is more piano and loads of marimba. 'Icky Thump' sort of brought things full circle.

They make a big noise for two people. Jack has an interesting approach to guitar and effects. So much so, that Davis Guggenheim and Leslie Chilcott had Jack as one of their top three for "It Might Get Loud" the moment they decided to make it.

Sure there are the Jack White haters. Again, their loss. But thus far between White Stripes, Raconteurs, The Dead Weather and such production as Loretta Lynn's Grammy winning "Van Lear Rose", Jack has more than proven his worth to me as a writer, arranger, musician, producer and businessman (has his own record company AND record shop called Third Man Records).

Again, you don't have to agree or like it. That is fine. But if you are taking a stance before taking the time to really give his music a chance, you are missing out. Free your mind and your ass will follow.
  10. Bump. You guys checked White's solo album Blunderbuss already? It's really great. Also watch this:

Funny how two years time can completely change an opinion.
