1. Lookout Kid is what soe tried to be
  2. So this story broke just a few days before the start of Arcade Fire's new tour: https://pitchfork.com/news/arcade-fires-win-butler-accused-of-sexual-misconduct-by-multiple-women-frontman-responds/

Regardless of what anyone's views on the accusations are, I am very curious about what is going to happen now. Can they go ahead with the tour knowing that (judging from Twitter and this is obviously not 100% representative) there is a large number of people trying and failing to return the tickets because of this? Is it a worse scenario for the band if those disappointed fans do not turn up or if they do turn up and cause a potentially awkward demonstration of their disappointment?

Part of the band's appeal was certainly its image as a family band, so it's hard not to see it as another blow to that (after Will's departure).
  3. Whether the accusations are true or not, some of Win’s comments are very off putting. I read yesterday that he offered up the contact details of many people that he has had consensual sex with? A truly bizarre response.
  4. Shocking. As usual, the truth probably lies halfway between one side and the other... But even if that's the case, it's a nasty issue and I would be very surprised if this doesn't lead to some strong backlash regarding the band. They're starting the WE tour in Dublin tomorrow, let's see what happens.
  5. Another publicly virtuous person revealed not to be who they say they are?

I didn't appreciate these lyrics from AF.

    So can you understand
Why I want a daughter while I'm still young?
I want to hold her hand
    And show her some beauty
    Before this damage is done

But if it's too much to ask
If it's too much to ask
    Then send me a son
  6. Maybe win needs to revisit the lyrics from Porno.

I don't think it will have a material effect on anything on the upcoming tour. Most people won't know, plenty won't care and the ones making all the fuss and noise are probably just a small minority
  7. Nonsense. It’s already having an impact. Everyone knows. It’s all anybody will be talking about in Dublin tomorrow. They’re goosed.
  8. I think while the alleged actions are very poor, there's no actual crimes committed, it's a matter of he said she said (or they said in one circumstance) and there is a lot of cancel culture and white knighting around this. Abuse of power dynamics isn't much to go off. And the infidelity issue is a non issue, win and regine have always had a weird relationship. Time warps all perspectives.

Pitchfork have been sitting on this story for months, one of the 18 year olds came out on social media nearing the start of the year. It was talked about in AF circles long ago, so they've reached out to a lot of people.

Sure it's bad. Am I condoning it? No. But I think it's a stretch to say that most people attending their show will find out or care.

It's also important to be able to separate art from the human.

When there’s so many people coming out to speak against him it becomes a bit more than he said she said as you put it. Yes you’re still talking about someone’s word over another but you generally find when there’s a number of allegations and questions about the persons character that there’s a reason. I hope it gets taken further and he gets punished for his crimes.

And total BS separating art from the human. Anyone who enjoys music by people that are committing horrible crimes are absolute weirdo’s in my eyes and show a complete lack of care towards the victims. If you were abused by a musician then had to listen to people praising their work or have their songs played on the radio you likely would be pretty upset about it. We shouldn’t be giving criminals any sort of platform. But unfortunately there will always be a weirdo out there who still goes out and purchases a Rolf Harris painting or listens to a Gary glitter album. I wonder what else they get up to in their spare time.

But that's the point, at this stage there are no charges, there are no crimes. He hasn't been charged. It's four women saying that six or eight years ago or however long it was, Win acted in appropriately. There's a difference between misreading a situation and sexual assault, especially considering the so called power dynamic that is driving the allegations.

Female fans see world famous indie band leader interested. They fool around, he doesn't actually care about her. Groupie feelings are hurt. Groupie feelings stay hurt that they were a play thing. Compounds over however many years.

Again, I'm not condoning or saying it wasn't inappropriate, but I think there's a lot of conclusions being drawn over something that is incredibly difficult to refute or prove one way or another.

I guess Michael Jackson who was accused of touching children doesn't get his music played anywhere right? No one watches any old Kevin Spacey movies any more right? There is still a distinction between the medium/art and the person. Or simply most people just don't actually care?

We’ll see if it goes further or not. I suspect it might now. A lot of victims of these type of crimes don’t speak up but now that things have hit the press they might feel it’s better for him to be held responsible for his actions now, well allegedly at this point but we’ll see where it goes.

Michael Jackson hasn’t been found guilty for a start and we’re talking crimes that have actually been investigated but doesn’t mean if he was found guilty in the future I wouldn’t change my attitude towards him, I certainly wouldn’t listen to his stuff anymore nor do I think it should be played no out of respect for any victim. Don’t watch Kevin spacey anymore no, don’t listen to kasabian unless it’s post Tom performances. I think it’s weird anyone who listens or watches something with a criminal in it and can focus on a performance as opposed to the crimes they did.
  12. I can only say that I am glad I didn’t spend £100 on a ticket for the Dublin show. It would have killed a large party of my enjoyment of the show and I’d be confident that Win will spew some nonsense from the stage in relation to the allegations.
