I'm expecting an album late next year. The launch of U2's Dublin exhibit. The debut of the first season of their biopic covering the 1970s. And a documentary celebrating their 50 year career. It's fleshed out a bit at the link above.

While we wait? Maybe an EP of new music. Maybe the Joshua Tree 2017 film in theatres and a few Record Store Day bits and bobs. Both have apparently been discussed.

  2. Every 5-10 years? Ho! Doubt they can write, record, and re-record, and hire the latest young Auto Tune wielding producer of the month that quickly. They've been in serious writer's block for ages now. Maybe a new album every 30 years. They are in serious decline, but I am praying for a late career gem like Hackney Diamonds or Duran Duran's Future Past, but doubt they have it in them. The red flag for writer's block is a covers album or a re-recordings album. Done. I love Atomic City, but riffing off Blondie lessened it's impact on me. The Little Things woke me up, but anything great from this point is gravy. A great career comes to an end....sometimes.
  3. A lot of people being too harsh on the band - and that’s coming from me

If Bono is suffering from writer's block then why doesn't he write about that - yeh, I've nicked one of Bono's own quotes from him

We all talk about what we want but basically its what 'they' want and the eclectic collection of the last few albums has been all over the place

I guess it's harder to write about everyday life when you're multi-millionaire - the irony is laughable

But let's forget about their comfortable life style and remember that - to us - it's 4 incredible individuals who have mostly written the story of our own lives

They have gave us some of the greatest music, performances and experiences of our lives - if we owe them anything then it's that

Yes it pisses me off that they can't just release an album every couple of years as we'd all be happy with at least some new music though we'd all rip it to shreds (mostly) using nostalgia to dissect it

If they're protecting their legacy then I can accept that but then that show's an insecurity too

The thing I will miss the most is their live performances because to me that's where they live - and I will also miss the excitement of: buying tickets, booking hotels, travelling to see them, meeting and talking with other U2 fans, going crazy as I try and get as close to the band as I could, dancing and holding my partner as they play the classics, feeling like I'm a teenager again, leaving the concert with new memories and a smile on my face as wide as the Cheshire cat's - I will miss that more than anything

So keep on going guys for as long as you possibly can - and if that means that I have to put up with some ropey new music then so be it
  4. TV series, a documentary and an exhibition. Kinda underwhelming. But I guess ppl nowadays just want to stare at the screen...

    Amen to that.
