1. Hey guys! Love the site, find myself coming here to check up daily haha! But I just had a quick question for anybody who plays an instrument and records their own stuff. I LOVE recording. I mess around on Garageband all the time, but for some reason it's being difficult this time around. I have a Line 6 POD HD500, and I plugged the USB into a Mac, but the laptop says the HD500 isn't connected. Basically I was wondering if anyone knows of a software, or legit piece of recording equipment that's relatively cheap and easy to use. Ya know, just to mess around with. Thanks guys!
  2. Audacity is free and pretty sure there's recording functionality. I've only used it for audio editing I'm afraid, which it does well. I have Logic for recording stuff, but it's a pain to get without spending big.

There's a list of useful DAWs for you to ponder. Garageband is pretty useful and simple if you just figure out the problem connecting your Line 6. You might spend money on new software and have the same problem so I'd try sort that out first.

This might have been better put in the Technology Topic but we can use this thread to also welcome you here Enjoy the forums.
  3. Moved your question to 'Digital Corner' and Logic (I use Express with Line In for my synthesisers and they work fine), Audacity should work too if it just works Line In or MIDI.

Check out if there's newer drivers for mac.
  4. That's strange, my Pod HD500X connects to Logic Pro X which Garageband is a bit of a watered down version of. Maybe check for new drivers like Drew suggested. I'm not home so I can't really check things out in Garageband.
  5. Have you done any updates (software) recently?
  6. Well, I have Line 6 Monkey and all that stuff on my PC, but I use my buddy's Mac to record on his Garageband. Would I need to download Line 6 Monkey and update all the drivers and stuff like that on his Mac?
  7. Thanks for all the help and input, I really appreciate it!

I'd say you'd need some kind of drivers especially if it's an external device.
