They make clear that it's not a new format or container - it's a global "solution" that shall change everything from the original masters to the final end product (obviously providing a new file format too). Therefore, it can be EASILY better than MP3 (there are better formats than MP3 already)... But I'm not sure how much of an improvement would it be over a direct "vinyl/CD > WAV > APE/FLAC/whatever lossess" lineage.
