The recording sessions for No Line On The Horizon started in 2007 in Morocco and continued in the band's own studios in Dublin, before continuing at New York's Platinum Sound Recording Studios and finally being completed and mixed in London's now-defunct Olympic Studios in late 2008.
Michka Assayas of Bono In Conversation says he has encouraged Bono to work with Rick Rubin on the next album, adding ''they (U2) are thinking about it.

U2 arrive at Abbey Road Studios in London to begin three weeks of recording with Rick Rubin.
The Sydney Morning Herald meets up with Bono on the Gold Coast before their first Australian show where Bono reveals the band's plans to record and release a new album in 2007 and ''a collection of singles'' in November with ''two new tracks''.
Radio One broadcasts an interview with Bono with Jo Whiley on Christmas Day which includes various topics such as future recordings.

USAtoday details Bono's reaction towards new US Government-proposed funding for AIDS in Africa and that he is over in Morocco ''recording with his band''.
Adam Clayton ''..estimates they've come up with at least 30 or 40 pieces'' while in Morocco.

While at Music Ireland '07, Steve Averill from Four5One Ireland tells attendees U2 are working on two projects, one a normal album and another OST-like album.
Eamon Carr of The Irish Herald thinks the first single from the as-yet-untitled album will be called Sexy Boots.

Four new songs dubbed 'the beach clips' which may well be the final songs on the untitled U2 album are recorded on a mobile phone outside Bono's house on Eze Beach and subsequently uploaded to YouTube and other file-sharing sites. Universal Music issues C&D orders and take-down notices, but they continue to be shared privately.
While not attributed directly to Edge, Q Magazine writes ''opion is divided whether the album will make a pre or post-Christmas release''. He also speaks about some of the new material they've been writing and recording, dropping a few titles of those songs including a ''fuck-off rocker'' entitled Breathe.
U2.com publishes the final tracklisting, the cover and five packages to be released for the record.
